New HD DStv channel

Monochoice is accurate as there is only one pay-TV service offering HD. Decades of protected pay-tv monopoly status has ensured that it will take several years before TTV could offer HD in the new duopoly pay-tv scenario. Hardly matters though, this is a dinosaur product offering anyway - satellite TV should be dead before the end of the decade. For now if you want satellite HD in SA, there is no choice.

The HD channels on DStv include: M-Net HD, Discovery HD Showcase, SuperSport HD, SuperSport HD 2 and M-Net Movies 1 HD
Let me correct that for you

SuperSport HD2 only shows English Premier League Football - not a general sports channel at all, why don't they also show other football or other sports on SSHD2?

When HD comes with dual view and on demand as a part of the package, I'd consider crossing over. Till then my SD PVR is good for me. But a nice inclusion though.

Thats a ludicrus idea

HD comes with On demand already but it will never come with dual view. If you want to view two HD channels at the same time get Xtraview - it uses two HD decoders on the same subscription to provide you with dual view

How do you get on-demand with HD, or is that only with the new HD decoder?

BUT ..... if you have SD and a HD PVR you can have the best of all worlds. Even with the cheaper HD decoder option you will have "watch 3 record 2". So already you are one step there. You wont be downgrading in terms of what you have now, and what you will land up with. No one yet has mentioned what the stability factor is with HD. Does it still have "issues"?

That's what I did. Sold my SD PVR for R2k and bought a HD PVR for the same price. I have the pace HD PVR in the lounge and the HD PVR 2P in the bedroom... Bloody fantastic!!!

The bedroom and lounge are separated by a wall so connecting the 2 components for the sake of extra view was no problem. Drilled a hole through the wall and bobs your auntie..

Hmm...just an upscaled version of Mnet Movies 1.

Nice...:D

No new channel or content here.

Do you really get FULL HD or only half? (1280x720)?
I know TopTV is 768x576 and standard Multichoice is only 640x480 (that's why standard TopTV looks slightly better then standard Multichoice).

What kind of cable does the Extra View decoder require to receive its "heartbeat" from the main decoder? Is it the standard white RF cable, or something closer to RCA?

I'm currently using a normal SD dual view decoder that splits the second signal to a TV using the RF cable, so I assume that the 1110+ decoder will feed off the existing cable, or am I getting this all wrong?

Cool, so all I need is two new decoders to run on my existing installation?

Actually I already have a 1110+, so I reckon if I plug in a HD PVR where the current SD Dual View decoder is and plug the 1110+ into the end of the line to where my second set is now I should be golden, yes?

RF/coax for heartbeat.

Twin lnb with 6-way for lnb feeds. Same room, different room? There are several installation options. Will try find you the link from dstv.com.
