New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

Guys, yes if you are using IBurst to download on the R199 64k option then sure you are going to feel a bit screwed. As Jannie has said before these packages were loss makers for them.

Think about it this way for R 149 + R249 you can get a 128k Uncapped, I dare you to find that kind of price in the ADSL market(Allin including line). They are going to release an after hours Uncapped, they said so give em time.

Secondly the Hard Cap users are getting a much better deal, their GB packages increase for the same money and top-ups are at least 50% cheaper.

We have all been attacking them saying ADSL is kicking their asses and now that they move to a more ADSL type of pricing we are saying what happened to the IBurst type pricing.

Geez would you stop whining when you get what you asked for, I realize it wasn't EXACTLY what we asked for but they do have a business to run and it must be profitable. Jannie has already said if you don't wanna move to the new packages you don't have to so if you don't like it don't buy it.

If either is not chosen then you are hard capped and cannot use the Internet.

If I change my mind 2 days later, can I still top up or won't I be able to use the internet to top up?

You will be, but it'll even be easier.

If you're capped and you connect, the automatic prompt screen will come up and you should be able to just click on the top-up button.

What is the max that you can do legally if the 64 and 128 is uncapped? Post five doesn't answer that question.

theone,

theoretically:
64k - about 20+GB (64/8 = 8KB/s x 60 x 60 x 24 x 30)
128k - about 40+GB (128/8 = 16KB/s x 60 x 60 x 24 x 30)

please correct me if i'm wrong

/Off Topic

Remember Afrihost's R29/GB price won't be around forever. (I know if you joined during the promotion, you will have that price forever)

I believe they are changing their price to R39/GB.

So R20 extra per GB from iBurst (R69) is a good deal. (2GB/R198)

No need to pay Telkom R131 extra for a voice/analogue line...:p

R149+1GB+128 Kbps All-day Uncapped service at R249 per month = R398 (That's not bad)

Screamer 384 kbps at R399 + ADSL R152 + R131 Telkom line = R682

I take my hat off to iBurst, thanks guys....;)

A question for jannie/shaun.
IF I migrate to a new package, and find it does not suite me and that the 128 VAS is not working / worth it, will we be able to return to our current 'OLD' packages or will we then be forced onto new packages only.

Currently the 64kbit is kind of an if you're lucky type situation since it's 'free', will there be at least some degree of service guarantee for the 128?

Jem I assume that you won't be able to migrate to an "old" package, I think the idea would be to get people off the old ones. I realize you are probably worried about losing the "free" 64k but to be honest 128k for 400 allin doesn't sound bad to me

Yup, assuming the service level actually is there I would agree. I just like having options open to me. What I'm on now works for me, most of the time at least.

It would be great if there was some indication of the other VAS / higher cap offering rollout schedules. I dun want to migrate, then a month later migrate, then again etc etc. and presumably there will be a migration fee of some sort.

Jem remember that the VAS services are bolt-ons, when they release the all day or night time uncapped bolt-ons it should be a simple phone call or if they are really clever just login to the site. The bolt-ons are not new packages so no migration should be needed once you are on a "new" package.

I can see where you are coming from though, can I recommend to you that if your current option works for you wait till Jan when people are using the 128k already and they can give you feedback. Pretty much the same way I looked at the Neotel forums before I decided that if I would rather get HIV than Neotel.

But that is 3 times the speed for not 3 times the price...

True, it was more for info purposes rather than exact comparision...:o

We will just have to wait and see what iBurst has to offer later on for "Uncapped + Speed" packages.

Until then, we wait...;)

Shark if you read the forums the Screamer uncapped is more like an up to 384, it never goes that speed. Ok I lie maybe at 3am

iBurst are good at setting customer expectation - hope their package migration and associated billing issues have been resolved prior to go-live. otherwise the service request folks will have an even bigger backlog!

wow. were the people on giga packages expecting to continue paying R199pm and get like 10gigs + the 64k uncapped  You just just need to look at what had been done here from a business perspective and not just from an angry customer perspective:rolleyes:

Even though the prices have come down it still stands that if you want decent internets in SA you have to pay decent money and for R450pm you can get really decent internets from iburst.

All hail Mental A member with a brain cell! guys the uncapped 20mbps at 400pm will eventually arrive but till then lets celebrate each small step on the way there!!!

Theoretically yes but my understanding of uncapped doesn't put a limit to the amount of bandwidth that's used within a 30 day period. I more satisfied with an answer saying that you'll get capped when you reach 20 gb with your 64Kbps service or 40gb of 128Kbps service. Using the word uncapped when it isn't really uncapped is a bit false. It's like saying that you're on an uncapped service but you're also capped which is confusing.

Well the speed of an uncapped connection determines you maximum usage... on 64k you can only dl 20gigs, not because iburst says so but because that how much data can be transferred over a 64k con in 30 days. Shaun has said the if you use the uncapped bolt ons you must download as much as you "leaguly" can.

There is always going to some sort of cap. Even if you have uncapped 100meg there is limit to the maximum amount of data that you can download in the month... also at that speed you are bound to run out of space first but that is besides the point.

The point is that they are giving upcapped at a speed, they are not limiting the amount of data you are downloading, just the speed at which you do it. Its the end of the month that is limiting you.
