New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

I'm quite happy with the new packages / prices... No complains from my side :)

Sure the 64kb throttled connection would have been great but not the end of the world I guess. I'm just gonna migrate to the (new) 15 gig package and I'm sure I won't even need a throttled connection anymore. And If I do reach my cap, R39 for 1 gig top-ups aint bad either.

I'm sorry but WTF. Iburst has just runed my day. Gamers like me are on Iburst for one reason, and thats for the throtteling service. What people like Mental-Tree fail to take into consideration is that some people can't pay R450 per mounth for that...

Currently I am on a 1gb package month to month @ R199 with throtteling thereafter. That equals 199x12 = R2388 per year.

On the new package where where it costs 450x12 = R5400. There is now way that I can get around paying that much and I'm sure that a lot of other customers feel the same way...

R450 is considerably more....

But then you get 2gig Cap before you get throttled. and remember you are then throttled to 128K (double the normal Speed)

So just add up what you get.... U pay more, U get more.

Errr...1gig+128 is only R400 a month. You don't *need* to go the 2GB option. Okay sure it's only R50 off the price but if R450 is really hard on you then every R50 probably counts.

I'm happy with the new hardcap option. 1GB was never enough for me and buying another gb started to make it expensive. Getting double the data and paying pretty much the same price is awesome. And topping up is quite reasonable now also. But I feel sorry for the guy who make full use of the throttling service. Seems a bit expensive

Maybe the 64kbps throttled connection should have stayed as is (free) and then just pay extra if you want anything above that. For example, R249 for a 128kbps throttled connection. Personally for me the 64kbps was to slow and I rather take a bigger cap at a 1mbps connection. But ya for some the free 64kbps was probably better.

Plus I'm sure with the new cheap top-ups not that many people will even use the 64kbps even if it was still free...

Who ever said it would be cheap to game online:rolleyes:. And if all games start going to p2p rout like modern warfare2 having a 64k soft cap will be useless. If you have tried to play modern warfare2 or even HoN while capped you'll know what I mean.

The new pricing will be beneficial to all the people who really use the internet aka people on 2GB and up packages.

You have to remember the soft cap hasn't always been around on the 1gig package but since it has been it's been somewhat abused. Now if you want to use the 64k to download 24/7 you have to pay for it which I think is fair and honestly I think that everyone who is complaining about having to pay for the uncapped were actually the ones who were abusing it.

Last but not least. The 64k soft cap wasn't put there for people to download 24/7 or game with, it was put there for daily browsing and to top up your account, now however if you pay for the uncapped you can do what ever you choose to with it and if you dont want to pay for uncapped to game you dont have to because you'll be getting 1GB gaming only cap.

All in all iBurst have made a good move and all those who are complaining now don't know what they want and they don't understand the concept that is selling a product or service for a profit.

No offence but hard cap is one of the worst moves I have seen in a long time. Usually my 1gb of cap is out in 2-3 days. Thats why the throteling service is important to me. Even though its slow its still way better than being told, sorry you don't have cap left no more internet for you...

Also Mental-tree, it's not a thing about paying more that bothers me. If I could pay more then I would but it is impossible for me to get that much more money for internet

^thats they way I remembered it. The throttle was only introduced to the lower packages later and thats about the time that we started hearing about people downloading 20gigs a month while capped:rolleyes:

Before we start getting our hopes up, this post from Shaun changes things:

Hi.

No the 2 gig option is only available from the 5 gig option and up.

I think he means that 64kbps & 128kbps uncapped is only available for people on the 5GB and up.

In other words Shaun, can the person on the R198/2GB package get 64kbps & 128kbps uncapped as an option?

Can you confirm this Shaun?

What Qrox meant is that if you have 64kbs you can still play some games online. For eg. you can play the whole month Call of duty 4 and World of Warcraft (except 25man raids). But now with hard caps you cant, exept if you gona pay for the add on service. But then its gonna be way more expensive. For a iBurst owner thats still on a contract even more so because for 1gb a month + 128kbs is going to be more then 400 rand a month! You must also remember the online subscriptions we have to play certain online games to.

So to take in acount.

iBurst has bad service
Loggin errors + webiste bandwith usage errors
More expensive for people to have soft cap.

All these things add up and then you tell me if its still fair pricing?
So to all thats "Excited" about the new pricing, take a good look at it because your blind to see that not much has changed. Because it doesn't make up for the hell they have put us true with the upgrades and billing problems.

iBurst has changed more for the casual internet user a person not using more than 3gb a month. But you really thing we can get thru a month with 3gb??

You have windows updates + antivirus updates + STEAM updates on games( can go even 3gb alone on that), you have website browsing and also video streaming. That easily takes your monthly internet usage over 10gb a month.

With the 64kbs some of it was still possible to do but with hard cap it gonna work out allot more expensive and you will see it.

I also get that feeling, and I think the 64kbs is for 5gb and up and the 128kbs is only for 8gb and up. So you see how they royally screw us then if thats true.

So IBurst! Hear me! I will stay on my old package and if you change it to the newer package there will be hell to pay.

I understand what you are saying, but look from Jannie's/iBurst point of view.

There were certain customers who only paid R199 per month for 1GB and then they would finish the 1GB in 2 days
and spend the rest of the month downloading at 64kbps, 24/7.

Raping the network at R199 for 20GBs per month.

It's impossible to please everyone.

I just hope some of our questions will be answered soon.

guys please stop inferring the VAS services are only available from the 5 gig upwards nowhere is that written by the Iburst boys. It would be a retarded move as they would not get guys off the 199 - 64k option doing this. Updated, sorry guys confirmed that this is actually true... what a load!

Well I hope what you say and explain is true.

Ok guys there seems to be a lot of confusion, from what Shaun told me the bolt-ons 64k,128k and eventually after hours uncapped will be available on any package from the 1 gig upwards.

Perhaps a better way to explain the new packages would be:

1 gig - all in cost R149 topups R99
2 gig - all in cost R198 topups R69
5 gig - all in cost R445 topups R59
8 gig - all in cost R592 topups R49
15 gig - all in cost R955 topups R39

All packages don't have 64k throttle.

Bolt-on VAS options:

64k - R199
128k -R249

Ok the only people who are disadvantaged are those on the old R199(R239) package who use it for bulk downloading,
anybody who was on a higher package can migrate to a lower one and add the 128k bolt-on and it will actually be cheaper for a 128k. eg

old 3gig - R449
New 1gig - R149 + R249 for 128k = R398
Therefore R51 saving and faster conn.

Remember guys on the old 1 gig you can choose not to migrate and still keep the old "dialup" package.

Jannie/Shaun Please dear god correct me if I am wrong.

Shaun, can you confirm this?
