New Jaguar XE

Any numbers from Jag about how the XE is doing? The only one I ever see is the one at home, and 1 or 2 in surrounding areas, same people though, lol.

I get the feeling the F-Pace is doing better numbers.

Having a lot of fun with the XE this weekend, it spends a lot of time parked in the garage, so I decided to take it out for the weekend.

My fear of too much tech in it keeps getting proven every now and then. Yesterday I put it into reverse in a friend's driveway and the Reverse Camera had a fuzzy image, I then turned the car off and on again, this time the Camera was not working at all.
I got the car out and drove to the shop nearby, when getting back out the parking, I got into reverse and boom Camera working again #confused.

Anyway, other than that, she is driving beautifully. I used it in 'Sport' Mode most of the time and the throttle response is just so sharp for a 'Jaaaag', I just love it.

Back to my humble little car tomorrow, I can't get too used to the big cat :) its not mine after all.
 
Jaguar XE S gains extra 30 kW from its V6 heart


Jaguar has announced a series of engine updates across much of its range, including a power hike for the XE S.

Yes, the supercharged V6 petrol engine in the sportiest compact executive sedan in Jaguar’s line-up gains an extra 30 kW, which takes its peak output to a meaty 280 kW.

The upgraded 3,0-litre six-pot, of course, is shared with the F-Type and in addition to the added oomph, the British automaker claims it also benefits from “improved refinement”.

Furthermore, the Ingenium engine family grows with the addition of the new 183 kW 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol and 177 kW/500 N.m diesel engines.

The 183 kW 25t derivative hits 100 km/h in 6,3 seconds (or 6,2 in all-wheel-drive guise). The new diesel is even quicker, taking just 6,1 seconds to reach three figures. The new engines also make it into the XF range.

Meanwhile, a new 120 kW/380 N.m E-Performance diesel mill has been added to the F-Pace line-up, with the automaker claiming a combined fuel economy figure of just 4,8 L/100 km. This has not been confirmed for South Africa.

The new derivatives available to order in SA by mid-2017.

M3-fighting Jaguar XE SVR on its way?


According to sources derived from Auto Express, Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations division is just about done with its XE SVR performance sedan which will act as a main competitor for the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63.

The car is rumoured to be undergoing benchmark testing in Northern Spain against its rivals and will be Jaguar’s first attempt at entering this particular segment and will be the third model in the Jaguar-Land Rover family to wear the SVR badge.

Powering the XE SVR will be the effective supercharged 5,0-litre V8 linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain has not yet been confirmed, although both the F-Type and Range Rover Sport make do with an all-wheel drive system.

The XE S does come fitted with an optional all-wheel drive system so it could be very likely for us to see this being used in the SVR as well.

Power figures also have not been revealed. While the F-Type SVR uses this engine to produce 423 kW, it is more likely that the sedan will be detuned to somewhere around 375 kW to match the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S and the new-to-the-game Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The XE SVR might also be fitted with a set of carbon-ceramic disks for a punchy stopping power and will have a tweaked suspension to make it more agile. Active damping hasn’t been mentioned but an electronic limited-slip differential is on the cards.

The hyper saloon will most likely be revealed halfway through the XE’s life-cycle. A coupe variant has apparently been ruled out.

The big elephant in the room remains the price, I wonder how are they going to get around that to match the Germans.
 
Once again the reverse camera has gone "bye-bye" in the XE

What gets me is my Dad's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland has a reverse camera and that thing has never EVER failed in the 5years that car has been driven, and it has been driven all over the country on and off road. The bloody Jaaag spends 90% of its time parked in a garage and it's gone through 2 of these cameras, WTF.

I think it has more to do with dodgy wiring than the camera itself, hence I don't think it will be much difference whether the car is driven a lot or parked in a garage, but knowing the stealerships they'll say they replaced the entire thing while in fact all they did was just to screw on an earth wire properly.

I really don't see anything that might be damaging the camera, replaced under warranty I hope?
 
So I was on the way to drop the XE off to get the reverse camera fixed when a taxi decided to put a stop to my plans.

Had to give chase and get his numberplate, he ripped his numberplate off the back and put it in his dashboard like a numbskull, so I got in front of him and took a pic on the rearview mirror.

I am not having luck with cars in 2017. Now both the Clio and XE are scratched up and dented.

Can't even open the driver side door in the XE.

Yep, but she pointed out something, at least he did not pull out a gun as he was quite violent when he saw me taking pics of both cars.

This could have gone south very quickly.
