New Jaguar XE

Jaguar must work on the interior quality. CAR Mag were not impressed

the quality is patchy and the plastics and finishes in the Jaguar’s cabin lack the respective perceived density and polish of its rival here.

Irritating B-pillar buzzes and a rubbing noise from the steering wheel boss when turning the wheel were joined by a few other little creaks and rattles that never beset the BMW’s tranquil interior.

Dude, no one believes anything that CAR mag writes.

Lol.....No ways. You are talking out your butt my friend. Many people; myself included; value their opinion.

Unless it's the cool thing on MyBB to "hate" on Car Mag just as DSTV as the "in" thing.

It's a quality mag. The best SA has to offer & has tons of heritage.

Been a reader for many many years & as mention before I know a few of the blokes. All car enthusiasts & all round good guys.

LOL - yes ways. I have explained my view on CAR and how they lost the plot in recent years. They are so far up their own .....

They rated a bmw above s jag... they're clueless :p
I would not say clueless, more like opportunist? They have gone from an excellent motoring magazine to one that prints what sells and what their advertisers and buyers want to hear. They write good things about the kinds of cars that sell well - because that is what the people like and therefore want to read about.

TB's comment was clearly made in jest.

Roux by all means are you entitled to your view of Car Mag & I'm entitled to mine & to each their own but what grinds my gears; a notch; is when you claim that *no one* reads/values what Car Mag says.

Trust many many people do. They are the longest running & top selling Car magazine; by a large margin; in this country.

But don't think I'm naive; their print publication is great & of high quality.

Their website not so much Ito of content especially.

Sometimes Roux is looking for reactions and sometimes he speaks the truth. Above it is the latter... They have become very biased and they are truly giving better reviews to their bigger advertisers.

*ahem*

"There’s an elephant in the room, and I’d like to address it now so it doesn’t hang its ugly trunk over our shoulders for the duration of this road test.

Jaguar’s new XE is expensive. We know it, you know it and Jaguar/Land Rover South Africa knows it. The reason is mostly because it’s built in the UK, and we (JLR SA) have to pay in pounds to get it here. Thank you so much exchange rate!”

“Okay, so the elephant’s still here. Jag will need to rely on brand loyalty for XE sales with relatively high pricing across the eight-strong range.
Ride quality is excellent, perhaps even best in class, but this alone is hardly enough to sway premium compact sedan buyers away from more enticing value propositions from competitors.”

I don't know about the UK, but the XE and XF are pretty closely priced here which is just silly.
About 900k for the 3.0 supercharged versions. Not sure what the new XF pricing will be like.

2 things I noticed bout the XE.

1. The entry level models exhausts look like they skipped leg day. I'm not a fan of massive gutter style exhausts, but it looks like they fitted tin straws!

2. I've seen several models in different colors etc with one daytime running light off/broken. It's quite noticeable, and I don't know if it's due to cheap manufacturing?

Was an indicator on?
