New Jaguar XE

Damn you both to hell...

This is probably the first car that has tempted me to the point of actively thinking about buying new..... they are just too gorgeous.

Hmmm what colour to choose:

Such an aggressive looking flagship for now & it's only a "S". Love the blue:

Snazzy alloy design:

One will not find local press kit pics of the manual model easily seeing as only the base Diesel model is the only model locally that has three pedals:

I was at Jaguar The Glen and test drove the XE 2.0 turbo (R830k including optional extras). The XE 3.0 V6 on the floor was R1065k. Good suspension, steering, looks, gearbox and standard features. Negatives are rear space, boot space and some plastics feel cheaper than Germans.

That car cannot be faulted. Just look at it, a finer looking automobile will not come by again any time soon. I love it.

Looks smart, hardly groundbreaking though.
In isolation this is a good car - put it next to it's rivals and it falls a bit short.
Seems like you pay a heavy price for being different I guess. Some might say it's worth it.

You have driven one extensively I suppose?

Nope - been a passenger for 10 minutes.
Looks are a personal taste so everyone will have a different opinion. Mine is that it looks very smart, but I'm not amazed like many others here. And that's ok.
Interior - really good, but I reckon the Merc has it beat. The new Audi will certainly have it beat. And in the one I was a passenger in, quality wasn't the best.
Ride/ handling - by all accounts, a real strong point.
Price - you pay a premium compared to rivals

My dad always had a Jag as personal car and a Merc as the company car, and I'm afraid I have always found Mercs soulless.
