New Jaguar XE

That's unfortunate and hopefully not common issues.

During my test drive, for everything I liked about the XE, there was something I did not like. Mixed feelings towards the car. The pricing was the killer. It should be cheaper than German rivals. My test drive units were XE 2.0t priced at R830k and XE 3.0 S priced at R1.06 million including optional extras. That's back in Sep 2015.

Wow, is the R830k the entry level?

Seen to date very few on the road but on the N1 just now saw an R-Sport diesel or 2L T...such a looker...crazy price notwithstanding....
 
Mother took delivery of her 2.0D R-Sport late last year, haven't seen many either.

She hardly drives anywhere (early retirement) and usually Ubers if going out at night. It's only done around 5000km, drives like a dream, although quite hard due to being R-Sport, it has firm suspension and low profile tires. There are so many electronics it kind of worries me in terms of aging, I also read that Diesel engines like to be driven for longer periods, when it does get driven its mostly to the gym and shopping mall up the road or family who are like 15mins away.

We have taken it on a few roadtrips to Harties, Free State and Mpumalanga, so its stretched its legs a few times. Sips the diesel.

Full House (I have no idea, thats why I say it), because it came with everything:

- Heads Up Display
- All driving aids (lane assist, blind spot detection, Collision Warning with Brake Assist in Cruise Control)
-Reverse Camera
-PDC
-Rain sensing whipers
-Auto Headlights
- Panaromic Sunroof
- Heated front seats
- Automated boot lid
-SatNav
-Keyless entry

Etc etc etc...

I'm not sure what is missing in that car, maybe a coffee maker?

I love technology, but I must say, its overwhelming in this car, she doesn't know most of it, the only time Sport mode is used is when I drive

She plans on keeping the car for a very long time, so went all out. The quality of the finishes in the car make me confident it will last that long.

All the gizmoz though, not so sure e.g. steering moving upwards when you stop and unbuckle your belt, to let you out, it does it everytime. And then when you start the car, it moves down in to place....but I have caught it off guard many times, where I start and go before it gets in place, and it waits until I have stopped again to complete the action. I drove a RR Vogue sometime ago and same thing. They need to cool off on some of this stuff, make it a safety feature, when it senses there has been an accident, move the steering.

Oh, Jaguar after sales is great BTW, they gave her a XE 2.0D Prestige when she had a bad puncture (requiring a new rim) a few months ago
