If your handset is on Telkom prepaid and you have a use for the FREEME benefits, buy the bundle on your handset sim and transfer data to the LTE number in order to use all of the included value.

Or else, just buy on the router.

goto to onnet.telkom.co.za

Buy bundles from the drop down box below from your spend limit. If you spend limit is too low, you can increase it if you register on www.telkom.co.za and then go to manage accounts. Or call 180.

I do this all the time on my smartphone when I run out of data near the end of the month.

Did you add a bundle? They not cheap!! R99 per gig?! Extortion!! I know it's apples and oranges but when I see what I pay for a gig on adsl..... makes one want to vomit!!

VOX 100gb capped account promotional offer for R164, unused data gets rolled over indefinitely and if that wasn't enough they increased that cap to 150gb and then 200gb!!!

How about Afrihost's free time data promotion? Add R1 on any capped account and get uncapped data between 12am-6pm daily!!! Just insane!!

Nope that's too much for me, ridiculous prices. Eh it's only till Tuesday then it will reset. The funny thing is torrents were still full speed because I hadn't been using them so i was getting 70mb on torrents and 2mb on http yesterday

Yeah, 50gb p2p is actually quite a handy addition.

Pro tip: Weekend bundles are nearly half that price

Were you throttled down to 4Mbps at 300 gigs and then down to 2Mbps at 350?

Telkom fair use threshold FUP for 1 December 2016

I received an SMS today from Telkom, informing me about it's new FUP or fair use threshold.

The model looks very similar to Eskom's load shedding with an FUP Level 1,2 & 3.

When one reads their FUP it basically talks about behaviour or the way one uses, but nowhere it mentions the amount of data used.

However these "FUP Levels 1,2 & 3" are worded as follows and I quote for Level 1:

"FUP level 1: Customers that reach 50% of the FUP will be throttled between 19:00 and 21:00."

To me 50% measures amount of data and not behavioural patterns as indicated on ther FUP.

Can someone explain this to me please, maybe I am just stupid.

FUP here - http://www.telkom.co.za/about_us/regulatory/terms-and-conditions.shtml

...and then, today's notice is at the link below. Notice how in the browser top title tab it says: "Telkom revises Fair Usage Policy for Uncapped LTE" - however in the SMS and the page content it talks about "Telkom Internet uncapped customers". So which is it, LTE or all uncapped customers?

Fair usage is fair but it should go with a fair warning period too. They shouldn't be allowed to implement changes with immediate effect. :(

I agree and I still maintain that their FUP is a general statement document but how can they now come and talk about 50% usage at Level 1 throttling. To me that indicates the amount of usage. What is this 50% measured against??? What does "50% of the FUP" mean???

This latest document just doesn't make sense to me.

I see unmetred "night owl" from midnight to 7am is now a feature.....

Streamers are going to be hit harder by these new policies.. downloaders will be happier.
