You are now firmly in the land of conspiracy theories.

They tried to implement a FUP to improve everyone's speeds, then the uncapped people complained, then they revised the FUP higher and then the uncapped people complain about speeds being lower? It's a wireless service. There isn't infinite bandwidth available for everyone. If you want 90mbps, get fibre.

My theory is backed up by hard, cold router stats... Whether intentional on Telkom's behalf or not the tower has degraded significantly since September 19th.

So what you basically saying is they entitled to implement a FUP on a product despite advertising that one would never be implemented? They also entitled to advertise a max attainable speed of 90Mbps despite barely anyone actually attaining that speed?

I'd say you firmly in the land of apathetic users. Marketers can feed you any old BS and you'll gladly soak it up and not hold them accountable when they don't/won't/can't deliver?

I'm not looking for 90Mbps, just the 60Mbps and -82dBm I was getting prior to their illegal FUP implementation. Has anyone's speeds gone up since September?

Fibre is on the way, should be live within the next 30 days or so...ordered and waiting thanks...

I hear what you are saying, but I doubt the FUP has anything to do with your signal getting worse, surely there must be another factor at play.

Yeah. I doubt it too. Keen to hear what Telkom have to say regarding a solution, other than 30Mbps is acceptable on this product.

Yep never get this pro Telkom attitude. Telkom committed fraud (this really was misrepresentation ). Whether system can handle it, whether its reasonable or not is beside the point.

I am fine with 300GB and average speeds of 20-30mbps but its not what was promised to us or contracted for.

So got feedback from Greg at Telkom, basically 10mbps-40mbps is fair on Lte as this is a best effort product. As for the diminished RSRP and SINR rates, he says they not important.

Case closed I guess.

ON the plus side he did offer to cancel the contract without penalties, which I duly accepted. Fibre is around the corner so timing is perfect.

EDIT: sorry @mikesmit but I'm happy to take a chance with you taking over the contract but I'm not happy taking a chance with Telkom implementing the change of ownership...

I am in 100% similar situation as you. Up to about a month ago I was getting 70-80 down with an SNR of over 30dB. Then suddenly I start getting 10-40 down and an SNR of 10 - 20dB. Worst part is, I am 30m straight line distance from the tower. I can see it from my window. So I am with you on this that ever since they updated stuff towers have been behaving different to before.

90Mbps is for 1 user in a sector. Add another user and you both get max 45Mbps. At 4 users and you all get max 20Mbps. See where this is going?

So guys i know this whole thread is a fight vs Telkom about their new fair usage terms.. I tried to catch up by reading a few pages but im not sure what is official yet.. I want to get this deal with telkom and 90% of my monthly usage is streaming, youtube, supersport twitch. Yes i dont want to get capped but is it true that the cap for streaming and general use is at 200gigs if thats the case then i can live with that. I know there is a P2P 50gig cap and i dont use P2P at all. basically what i am asking is, if i get this deal can i use 200gigs worth of data before getting throttled.

You can use 300, supposedly, before being throttled. It's still objectively a good deal, provided performance doesn't go out the window completely. It's just not what we signed up for.

So what do you surmise the contention ratio on these products is?
