If you okes can survive for a month or two I'll happily transfer mine. Vumatel's trenching, and our fibre should be live by mid December. If someone wants it then, you might just save some hapless Telkom employee from getting a Huawei B315, Poynting antenna and tube of KY for Christmas.
Hahahaha, I'll pm you.

What happens after 2year contract ends, do we still pay the deal price after that?

Nope doubt it. But even R799 not bad for product. Cap too low but if you route only streaming to it and use adsl for other things, its perfect.

Interesting question - I doubt R599 will drop to less. They will say "we gave you a free device". There is no reduced sim-only pricing for the R599 "uncapped" so nobody can prove the device fee was billed.

Take this month's P9lite on FreeMe 1GB. It is R199pm. We know FreeMe 1GB is R99pm. So after 24 months the R100pm drops away.

Well hopefully fiber will be in my street by end of contract, no digging as yet

The monthly invoice splits the payment into two - a small amount for the device and a larger amount for the access (the figures are R74 and R525 respectively).

So I'd expect the device portion to fall away and further reduce the monthly costs.

Will have to wait and see if that really happens.

Before the AUP change I was averaging 50Mbs with a max of 70Mbs. Now I am getting a max of 15Mbs. Anybody else get a reduction in speed since the new AUP? Logged a ticket with Telkom. Technicians came out tested my router and antenna. Hooked another router and antenna same result thus wondering if anybody else has got a reduction in speed since the new AUP. I also phoned and confirmed I am not being throttled.

This is the problem with the Telkom network. I had the exact same thing, the initial tower the tech pointed my antenna too just randomly dropped output to below 7mbps permanently without warning. I had to point the antenna to another tower just to get something above 15mbps. This and I never ever got speeds above 5mbps during peek times but this is "normal" behaviour for the network. Fortunately I had built up a history of Speedtest runs on my phone which I used as proof to get the contract cancelled this week without penalties.

Yes, me!!! Went from consistently around 45Mbps-60Mbps to 10Mbps-30Mbps.

I was getting a solid 5 bar, RSRP -80dbm, SINR >30db. Then came FUP and down to 4 bar, RSRP -92dBm, SINR 15dB.

Had the techies out to my residence to conduct testing but sweet f all has come of it.

What area are you in @arnold.botha?

The guy to speak to is apparently Greg Roberts. RobertGL@telkom.co.za cc OSulliJ@telkom.co.za

When I told Greg I'm getting 30Mbps he said that is perfectly acceptable for this product, but I said it fluctuates between 30 and 10 and I'm using an external antenna and I'm within 500 metres of the tower. Asked him, what about folk who haven't got external antenna and are connecting using the phones and/or mifi routers? They'll be getting a poor performing product. That's when he agreed to escalate the issue and send someone out to test.

I am in Montana Park Pretoria. Thus I am not the only one experiencing significant speed drops. Thus Telkom sold us an uncapped product for up to 90Mbs then changed it to a capped product with only 10-15% of the speed. Wow way to go Telkom...Not

Strictly speaking it's still uncapped. If you were getting 5kbps it would still qualify as uncapped as you would still have throughput, albeit barely usable.

The throttling is a load of BS though.

So Telkom implement a FUP policy on a product where they implicitly stated one would never be imposed other than on p2p and nntp. The reason they say, is to improve the overall experience for all users. But then they degrade tower signal, which has a direct baring on max attainable speeds, thus diminishing service to all customers connected to said tower!!

You are now firmly in the land of conspiracy theories.

They tried to implement a FUP to improve everyone's speeds, then the uncapped people complained, then they revised the FUP higher and then the uncapped people complain about speeds being lower? It's a wireless service. There isn't infinite bandwidth available for everyone. If you want 90mbps, get fibre.
