New MacBook Pro with M4

Base model is 14" M4 10 Core CPU/10 Core GPU with 16GB Memory, 512GB Storage, TB4 @ $1599

We may get OLED, maybe in 26.

Then every online youtuber d1ck will claim what a gamechanger it is and how beautiful the display is.
I'm still on a 13" MB PRO M1 and it still does the job. I'm hoping to sweat it until something more than just a new SOC.

This one has 120gb/sec TB5. So you could really max out your TB connected SSD. Or you could have an array of them, I suppose.

The GPU is 32 core, so good for gaming. But there are not many games for the Mac.

I’m guessing before Xmas.

Probably in December. And with the stronger Rand this year vs the last, the prices may be less.... who am I kidding, they'll be higher.

An M3 Air with 16GB RAM and even a 256GB SSD is a good laptop. One can always connect an external SSD if one wants more space for files.

Apple's new AI batsh=ttery must really need those 16GBs.
I'd guess right now it's just levelling up value and clearing stock. No doubt that 16GB will be required though as most on-device models of any use are growing in size.

I've got my 13" M1 MBA, with the thermal mod, and I'm in no rush to move to anything else. My 16gb of ram is nice, but the 1tb drive is nicer still. No annoying external getting in the way while I'm working.

The IStore will quadruple the price.
It will be a little higher than the UK, which is odd considering their vat is 5% higher, but the annoying thing will be the lack of configurations available without having to BTO.

Mmm, I was leaning towards an M3 Pro 14" with 36GB of RAM and 1TB.

Now with the new M4's, the only configuration I would be able to get is probably an M4 Pro 14" with 24GB and 1TB, or 48GB with 1TB.

The latter seems overkill, but you'd need to jump to an M4 Max to get 36GB - a 600 USD upgrade.

I currently use a Windows machine with 32GB and it feels terrible going to a new machine with LESS RAM.
