I'd rather spend the money in uplifting the people who really needs it over printing faces on notes.
They already named an ocean after this twit.
Enough already.
The Nelson Mandela ocean !
The cost of designing the bank notes is R2.5 million.
Which faces would you like to see, De Klerk? Verwoerd?
3 for me.
As was siad before, no problem with mandela himself, but it opens the door for others. Its fine cos everyone likes mandela but what heppens when they wanna use melema, or castro, or gadaffi?
Edit : also, if we were a rich country with no pressing problems like aids, unempLoyment, corruption etc, then maybe. But we have too many other places where this moneyy could be spent. More teachers, more cops, more houses, the list is endless
No one has yet been more recognised as a turning point for our county than Mandela.
Regarding the money spent, you have fraudulent companies dealing in cash costing this country billions, a change in notes is a good way of catching tax dodgers. Why do you think the R200 was changed?
Yes. We do owe the old man a great debt and have a lot to learn from him. It could have ended badly if not for his approach, but have we not recognised this already in many many ways. The currency change just seems so un necessary. No one has yet been more recognised as a turning point for our county than Mandela.
