New news site testing

Personally hating the new layout. Most offputting thing is the way new forum discussions are displayed on the home page, and the fact that it shows fewer new topics.

I agree, and i don't like the fewer new topics idea.

I don't have a problem with it.

Thanks for the valuable feedback. We will look at increasing the number of forum topics on the home page - should be fairly easy.

Honestly speaking, I don't like it, it looks too "flashy", its easy to get lost on the main page. It is not as "organised" as it used to be
But at least, please fix forum discussions section as per discussion above.

We added 10 forum links (instead of 4) - the same as previously but more prominent. I think it looks quite good.

The home page looked very bleak until I disabled Adblock on it, looks OK now and the ads aren't too intrusive.

Something funny with login on the home page, it doesn't work but if I go to forums I am automatically logged in. Changed my password from the forums control panel but the behaviour remained the same.

Bad thing is the Polo video at the bottom of every page opened from new forum discussions links. This video starts as soon as i open a link, and if i pause it the data counter is still running.

Edit: OK now my adblock was disabled.

It's been entertaining watching the poll

Love the new site layout. I thought I'd found some deadlinks but then you fixed them before I could even report them ... ya service is not to shabby there Nige!

I think the new layout looks great. I've been gone a while from MyBB but this will definitely keep me coming back for more!

Any particular reason you guys stole the design for the "Forum Debate" section on each article from Ars Technica??

Comments section doesn't appear to be working well in IE9. The "submit" button for news comments isn't there. Switch to Chrome and all is well

"Good artists copy. Great artists steal." - Abraham Lincoln, Mohandas Gandhi, Nelson Mandela

We love Ars and thought their comments link design would look cool for our forum.

The site is actually a bunch of cool features we've seen on various news sites all rolled into one. Virtual prizes for all who point them out!

We'll see if we can reproduce it on our end. There are folks in the office who use IE9 every day (for testing purposes) and they've not come across the issue. Thanks for reporting it.

I have to agree with Dovi - the new home page doesnt look as good as the previous one, and the forum discussion snippets definitely need work. Thats my 2cents.

I'm using IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421 on a Vista x64 platform

I think it looks good.

You will need to address how you are sending e-mail though - your hosting server has no MX record which means delivery will fail on a good proportion of mail servers. I'm surprised there haven't been others who have picked this up.
