New Openweb ADSL concerns, comments

Strange how it seems one minute everyone loves them and they have the best product and the next...
What changed? Or is this just another case of fickle subscribers?

Your knowledge of the openweb debacle is as good as your knowledge of supplements :D.

I won't lie I like openweb, but I do find it funny how often they have "only 195 accounts left".

hehehe this man is feeling the heat, but will it help seeing that his banners are currently reigning everywhere

HAHA! :D

iaywtimnbe maybe you should educate yourself before making blanket statements...PostManPot's post should help get you started.

Yeah really props to PostmanPot, a lot of useful info in his posts.

Only 195 accounts left today... 200 left the day before and 100 will leave tomorrow

I have an OpenWeb account and so far have not had any problems, I don't understand what people are on about. I always get my full capacity when I need it. but then I pay premium bucks for a premium account.....

You dont have a premium account, you just pay for one, THAT is the point

I'm sure you get preference, Keoma.

I think what they've been doing is buying high usage accounts in bulk from upstream ISP's and then reselling these multiple times to subscribers based on concurrent connections allowed. (I noticed this with an account from them a number of years ago)

I guess there's nothing wrong with this, unless you get cut off due to reaching the cap.

If OW agreed this with the upstream providers, I cannot see the wrong here. So what if a password is shared multiple times or if multiple connections are recorded on an account?

Of course it says nothing of irate clients when connections are cut off, unavailable, capped and so forth.

There is actually a complex calculation behind this quantity.

Let BS = amount of BS measured in metres.
Let DL = amount of Days Left in the month.
Let FO = amount of wisened users that have F'd Off.
Let NB = amount of NooBs still to see the light.
Let EX = amount of EXisting clients.
Let SP = amount of SuPport emails in the last month.
Let SH = amount of SHares available.

We then have Number of Accounts left = Int( ((BS *DL) * Sqrt(FO * NB) - EX/SP) / (SH * 1122) )

:D

I hate it when people do this. Just because you are well off, doesn't mean the problems don't exist. Plus who gives a **** about you and your pretty speeds, this is about unethical ( and illegal! ) business practices of Openweb.

Your time will come...don't worry...

Sounds legit :D

The issues in the article are all ready administrative technicalities, I don't think anyone really cares that much about it compared to the widespread account sharing/mis-selling fraud that appears to be going on.

The problem is that people have demonstrated that differnet level accounts (gold/chrome/blue/purple/whatever) share login details, and I personally have been sold the wrong account (paid for an expensive one, got a cheap one) - whenever confronted, OW says "isolated error", but it's clear that this is a widespread problem going back almost a decade (was happening to me and some mates 7+ years ago).

As I mentioned before, this only has 2 possibilities:
Possibility 1- OW is telling the truth, and they have been making these basic errors for 7+ years and aren't able to fix them - so steer clear
Possibility 2 - OW is talking crap and they really do lie, steal and cheat their customers - so steer clear.

Rule 1 of making up BS excuses: make sure you can BS your audience. At the very least, make the effort to be sure your lame excuse ties up with reality.
