New Rates

Such a fee would be illegal in the EU. iBurst would not be able to get away with that sort of behaviour, they'd be shut down or fined a few million Euro per day.

They have confirmed with me that the migration fee is payable. Blatant profiteering instead of creating some goodwill with their new packages.

Reached your data limit?
You have 3 options:

* Continue on Pay-per-use (all packages are activated with PPU by default) and pay R0,95 per mb used
* Top up your bandwidth with a Bandwidth Booster. These allow you to buy bundles of extra bandwidth for less. Click here for more info.
* Opt out of PPU, which means your service will be throttled or capped unless you purchase a Bandwidth Booster (see above)

I am on one of the older packages. (3.5GB) What will happen once my limit is reached? Will it continue on PPU or will there be an option to opt out of it?

Also, what will my migration fee be if I upgrade to the new 5GB package? I'm currently a contract subscriber, so I'm assuming that if I migrate, I'll be paying R639pm for the 5GB package?

I think someone here has said that you don't pay anything extra for this one as it's not really a downgrade but a 'equigrade' hehe, you know you move across and pay the same amount and not less. They should just do it for you. Make sure you tell them to disable PPU for you at the same time and maybe get it in writing or the person's name who did
it in case you later get billed for a few extra megs/gigs with their R0.95/MB rate.

In the EU iBurst wouldn't be able to keep different prices like this, they'd have to ask each user if he wanted to migrate or not and extra charges would have been illegal.
My cousin works for the EC in Brussels and although its a different department he says they would
have had a field day of iBurst. :) Sadly we live in the rather wild, consumer unfriendly South Africa.

Not really surprising given the level of ineptitude that infects this company and their complete disregard for their clients, but on the website it shows all the old packages and prices here and under the new packages here, under the FAQ in terms of existing subscribers wanting to benefit from the new prices, they do not even have the decency to put the process or requirements!

****ing morons!!!!!

Not that iBurst would care but, after all this blatant profiteering, I am cancelling at the end of the month. I've been around since pre-launch so I've put up with a lot. I can handle the technical botches. The 'moral' botches have just gotten way too out of hand. I refuse to give any more money to this disgusting company.
