New Rechargeable Lightbulb

I bought some of those Ellies rechargeable LED bulbs last year. They are not very bright.. Infact they are useless unless you use it as a reading light (30cm away from the object needing to lighted up).

I used mine like that for propably 3days... and had to change back to my good old faithfull 3watt LED Warmwhite light

PS> The Ellies rechargeable light is propably a 1.2watt setup... not good at all.

I'll skip then, thanks for the heads-up.

flash makes an awesome emergency backup light. Hardware stores retail them at R100. 50leds iirc. gives me about 9 hours on full blast and has an auto power up when elec feed is cut

Basically I'm looking to replace some lights in the house with LED lights that have a built in battery (either screw in or clip in). I believe that these can be bought but I'm struggling to find decent ones. Anyone know where one can get these from?

I've rigged up the bedside lights (4W LED) to a 650VA UPS but for some reason the UPS cut out after only two hours of being on (only 1 light was running). I know the DC to AC conversion isn't very efficient so I'm looking for a better solution.

Thanks :)

I plan to get something like this: http://www.mantech.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?Item=372M0705

Then run a few cables in the roof to some "loadshedding lights". Just add a battery and off you go

You'll struggle to find decent ones that will give bright enough light for long enough. But lets hold thumbs someone has found such...

I came across these from a company called Futurelight, but it doesn't look like they sell them any more. Those seem super-easy to install and a perfect solution... if I could buy them!

a 650 VA UPS can "burst" up to 650 VA, doesn't mean it sustains that. If your 4W bulb runs for only 2 hours on it, it's safe to say the UPS is (either old) not efficient for your needs. Hook up a charge controller to a 12v battery and then your LED's to that (they should be 12v I think, unless it's one of those conversion jobs that converts 220v to 12v). You'd get better lifetime out of the battery and longer runtime on your lights

Went to China Mall today and bought some rechargeable led bulbs. Must say, I'm really impressed.

Cost me R50 each and says it lasts for at least 4 hours (still to be tested). Comes with a remote and has 2 dimmer levels.
Here's the model I bought:uploadfromtaptalk1437849047983.jpg which is brighter than this previously mentioned model:uploadfromtaptalk1437849088304.jpeg.

Here's a look at 2 bulbs lighting up at dark room uploadfromtaptalk1437849164169.jpg.

The great thing about the remotes is that they can be used for all the bulbs.

NB. MICA, Geewiz and Takealot sell the same bulbs. All selling for more than R120 each

Yup they are great, I use them in the bathrooms. You can hang them just about anywhere once charged :)
