New reputation system

Do you have access to the admin panel of this website?

Didn't think so.

I'm not about to register a new account just to prove a point, but the default vBulletin configuration has baseline points for new users.

It's a very mature system by now.

You just seem like a sore loser. If you don't like it, ignore it.
And you are just someone who likes to always play the man instead of the ball. I do not need access to the admin panel. My baseline points started at zero and only 40% of reps contribute to it. That disproves everything you claim.

There's more than enough people that like me. I do not need the placation of the in crowd on a meaningless anonymous internet forum to confirm it. Stop dodging the points.

Okay Swa I concede victory to you.

You are quite right about it having zero power to start out with.

The above user is one I just created and used to give Rep with and as you can see the default reputation power is indeed zero.

At least as it applies to brand new users. It could be that this rule is in effect...

Minimum Post Count
If the reputation system is enabled, anyone will be able to rate a post but only users with a post count above the level you set here will be able to actually give points or take points from another user.

But I'm not about to SPAM endlessly to find out.

Without actually seeing the Admin Panel configuration it's impossible to come to a complete conclusion.

I'm not sure how the reputation system works, but mine is still sitting at it's baseline = 0
oh well, whatever~

I think the option to Hide Reputation should be enabled for everyone.

Actually, looking at the state of affairs of the rep system I'd sooner have an option to hide everyone's rep. Tapatalk is great in that regard but the same should be extended to the www version of the forum.

That's what I thought you meant originally

Originally I though enabling the option to hide one's own rep, like we can with forum visibility, was the way to go but the whole system has been rendered meaningless - hence the second option.

You hide your own view of it...it's still there for the people who attach significance to it.

Many Forumnites on MyBroadband have been hoarding reputation points, requesting rep. Reputation is earned not given. IF this was an out and out support board, yes, rep would had carried value.

I would have liked a rep system where rep was rewarded categorically to a member contributing in a section. There are members which made rep worthy contributions to the PC Hardware and Gadget board, and they should be rewarded there. The same applies to news, sports, games, etc. Even TK deserves their own rep system, the same with the board games. But yah, too complex.
