New series: Foundation

It’s going so slow.. I started scouring YouTube to figure out where it’s all going but can’t really as there is also multi year stories along with the person specific ones.

I dunno.. it’s just slow. I wonder if watching and waiting a week is making it feel slower as most series we watch are over a few days (series season binge)
Try to keep in mind that this is based on a series of books published over the span of about a decade then picked up up again decades later when prequels and sequels were added.

Also: there is a lot of real world maths in there, try to trap concepts you see reference to and cross read on them it will add a lot to the plot.

I get that.. but even so. A good example, kinda topical is Dune and how they handle setting up the world. In the new one they spend more time but the result is the movie is split in two.. in the original movie version it was wrapped up in 30m or less and missed quite a bit.

We have about 4 episodes left to kinda conclude this era I think, not sure.

I dunno for me the pacing and sequence of some scenes are just kinda meh and a bit of an issue. I’m still curious about it all but yah..

Problem is there's too little story for too much time the opposite of what Dune (1984) had.
This should've been a 4 to 6 part miniseries like the Dune miniseries.

I really wanted to like this but..... it's gone all..... I'm not exactly sure what.

It has a mad trinity, a rebelling separate jesus figure, a lot of "strong independent powerful whatever else" woman, men seem to always take the submissive or negative roles, crazy ass sun worship religion, clumsy improperly formed political dynamics, tradition=bad revolution=good, etc

It's a mess trying to say ideological things more than trying to tell a proper story anyone wants to actually invest in. Reminds me of the terribad atlas shrugged movies in that regard.

Anybody else still watching this awesome series?
A few episodes behind, but time (and Eskom) permitting will binge this weekend to catch up. It is a tad slow, but that's ok - am enjoying it.

Finished it last night, really enjoyed season 1 and can't wait for season 2

Meh.

I honestly feel too drained to give a more detailed description than this. Trying to force myself to watch the rest of it, but I have to take frequent breaks.
Perhaps if one never read the series this might be more enjoyable? Will soldier on though

Apple TV+ original ‘Foundation’ was one of the most pirated shows of 2021

Apple TV+ is not as popular as some of its competitors, but Apple’s original shows and movies have been becoming recognized by major awards like the Golden Globe. This year, the Apple TV+ original series “Foundation” was even among the most pirated shows of 2021.

Foundation was one of the most anticipated Apple TV+ shows of 2021, as it is based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning sci-fi novels. While this certainly led several people to subscribe to Apple TV+ to watch the show, others preferred to download it on torrent websites.

As reported by TorrentFreak (via Tecnoblog), Foundation was one of the most pirated shows on the web in 2021, which puts Apple TV+ on that list for the first time since its launch in 2019. In first and second place are Wandavision and Loki, both Disney+ shows, while Netflix’s The Witcher comes in third place.

You can check out the top 10 most pirated TV shows of 2021 below:

  1. Wandavision (Disney+)
  2. Loki (Disney+)
  3. The Witcher (Netflix)
  4. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Disney+)
  5. Hawkeye (Disney+)
  6. What If…? (Disney+)
  7. Foundation (Apple TV+)
  8. Rick and Morty (Cartoon Network/Netflix/HBO Max)
  9. Arcane (Netflix)
  10. Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime Video)
One thing to keep in mind is that the ranking is based on the number of episodes downloaded rather than entire shows. Since Netflix usually releases all episodes at once, this resulted in La Casa de Papel and Squid Game not making the rankings – although these are very popular shows.

Well, Foundation is one of those that fell of the bus here, a few episodes in ...

I watched foundation illegally for a while, then realised I am Ted Lasso and have a free Apple TV account. I watched remaining on there. It's an ok show. The way they move through time and some of the logic they use completely bewildering but not as dumb as that show Invasion. Forced myself to watch all 10 (wanted to give up at episode 4). That is a show I will not watch again.

If you still want to stay in the Apple TV+ ecosystem I will recommend Severance (S1 Finale came out today) or WeCrashed (2 epi’s left till it’s done).
