New Telkom uncapped ADSL bundle prices

Dude, obviously you need to pay for line rental as the simple laws of physics means that with ADSL you are physically using a physical length of cable that runs to your house. If you don't pay line rental then why on earth would Telkom have any need or desire to maintain the cables. You don't want to pay line rental but will be the first one to moan when your line goes down and needs to be fixed. There isn't such a thing as a free lunch, you can't expect to use something which costs money to provide but then don't want to pay for it. And before you say that the cost of line maintenance should be subsidised by the calls made on said line, please don't forget that the simple fact is that you (and many others) always say that you don't use the line for making calls, so such a model will never work. ie: line maintenance costs less profit made from calls made (zero-everyone uses cellphones) = Problem!

Excuse my ignorance, what is that ADSL access fee for, if it can't cover the physical access to this wonderful copper infrastructure and plus the fact that you pay "extra" for data(ISP portion) that flows through this wonderful copper access? Why Naked DSL in other markets(not gonna ask how successful that is).

When do these prices kick in? The 2Mbps option shows up on the Telkom Internet website, but there is no 1Mbps option. 384kbps is still there at R 219.

I want to add a 1Mbps account to my 10Mbps line.

Am yet to be shaped on my 1Mbps account...

Speed Restrictions

6am - 6pm: up to 600 kbps
6pm - 10pm: up to 875 kbps
10pm - 6am: up to 2 Mbps
No restriction on local data: Up to 2 Mbps

I just want to make sure - So you haven't experienced the above speed restrictions?

As you mentioned the other day, with the bundle discount, this is looking pretty tempting.

By all accounts, no. They're basically just warning you that they can do that without notice or without any fair-usage violation. However, with WACS landing and all, I doubt they will enforce it much if ever.
