Just get this

R4300
The 5700 is crippled worse than the 5600

With case, 4060 and 550w psu from evetech. Actually better than their pre built alreadyScreenshot_20241116_100310_Chrome.jpg

Sure, but this isn't a gaming machine.
Fair, but you're still recommending low quality parts from a supplier which is renowned for avoiding any after-sales support and warranty.

Recommending Evetech should be a bannable offense. Recommending terrible parts from Evetech should be criminal with a minimum of 6 months jail time.

Complete build that I suggested to a friend - for 1440p gaming (R34.6k).

R35k for a decent pc gaming machine... our Rand is so kak. Now imagine making a serious top of the line PC = R100k

and you have no monitor / keyboard / mouse / snack jar etc.

Yet I've never had issues with Evetech, can't not recommend cause some have issues.

If their products work then you got no hassle.

Another thing to consider are their 'parallel/grey-import products' - it often has lesser time-based Warranties
Intel also refused to replace my i9 14th gen CPU that gave BSOD issues that I bought from Evetech

Once there's an issue you are doomed though. Support will kak you on returns/refunds etc

Just go look at the Threads here about Evetech - Their products are cheap for a reason.

Okay nothing wrong with parallel imports. Plus make sure with anyone what the warranty is.
Yes places like Wootware, Geewiz and a few others I've had to send parts back and they did a great job.
Luckily my parts from Evetech haven't given issues

I heard Progenix had quite a lot allocated to them, not sure if more or less than 40 units.
We got a hefty allocation. The idea is to have enough left over for customers who missed grabbing one, and to be able to sell them at non-scalper prices.

There certainly is - if the retailer won't assist you, you're SOL. The distributor won't assist, and more often than not the vendor (manufacturer) won't assist or will assist but international courier fees make it uneconomical to pursue.

I can't tell you how many customers I've sold new RAM because the "limited lifetime" warranty that Corsair offers isn't being honoured by the retailer it was purchased from. I've had a few success stories where Corsair has managed to get the warranty honoured by the retailer, but they can't force it.

Igor Lab's upgraded his thermal paste database, and I must say that it is impressive. It is an excellent guide:

I hope this helps DIY builders.

Hi everyone, hope you’re all good.

I have decided that it’s time to move over to AM5 and get a 9800X3D. I have not kept up with motherboards/ chipsets and coolers. Recommendations please? I like the aesthetic of the Sapphire motherboards @Fulcrum29 posted but I guess those won’t be available locally?

I’m a fan of reading things like “all Japanese capacitors” on the box but I also don’t want to overspend on things I don’t need.

You can get either a B650/ X670 setup, or an X870 setup, they're basically the same with no reason to go for the new ones really.

I have the B650 Gaming X AX and it's been rock solid.
