New The PC Build Thread

Though the US have sanctioned DeepCool, and there doesn't seem to be any progress in the matter, though DeepCool /cough OEM parts are still being sold in the US, DeepCool has released their updated AK series.

First to market are the new AK620 and AK400 Digital Pro.

Other than having more numbers you will hardly ever look at, it does have an improved baseplate and the FT12.

Upgraded with multi-data screens
Core Touch Technology 2.0
Unmatched cooling performance
Equipped with FT12 SE FDB PWM fans

It is without a doubt that these will be expensive. These are already in distribution. I don't know why they are positioning themselves this premium since they are an OEM which makes some real good competing brand value coolers.

For those who like aesthetics, go ahead. I am curious though, the AK400 Zero Dark Plus is not a bad cooler, and competes above its single tower weight class, like the Freezer 36, and Mugen 6, so I am curious by how much the new additions will improve that little heat sink. Still too expensive, probably still better value than the Hyper 212 though.

Those FT12's are not cheap.

Here you go:

Their new PC Builder AI is so convenient. It's a great add.

Just bought a 5700x3d to replace my 5600 I've had for awhile, not a massive upgrade, but the 5600 will go into the machine with the 1600af in it, where it will be a massive upgrade and can get Windows 11 on it. Plus a 500GB pcie3 SSD for the 1600af machine to replace the old 256 SATA3 SSD

Got mine in August, it's such an excellent gaming chip, did you buy a boxed version or a tray CPU without cooler?
I went with cheaper tray package since I have a good cooler already and made no sense to pay extra for a box and cooler.

Not sure, the one Wootware has ;-) it says it doesn't come with a cooler, but my old tower cooler should work now.

Seems like none of them come with coolers, didn't even realize that lol, I just saw the box listings and price difference then just assumed those have coolers
I was debating going to AM5 but with the 5700X3D giving such good performance and being available at decent prices, it made sense to stay on AM4.
Might look at upgrading when AM6 comes along.

Yeah I've been on AM4 now for 5 years :-) and I've had 4 chips on it, so it's really been value for money over the years. Was looking at AM5 as well but the costs of upgrade was adding another 8k easily to the bill

For gaming I don't see why anyone with a Ryzen 5000 series X3D processor should upgrade. For anyone wanting to have a more accessible build with a X3D processor it does seem that the Ryzen 5000 series X3D processor line is coming to an end. I guess this is why the XT processors was released to displace the X3D lineup. It had a long run though.

Interesting.

Huh - just did a Cinebench R23 on my 12600k now running 24H2 and I scored 16670 vs 18781 when I first ran the test two years ago. Some of the performance loss is definitely the fact this isn't a fresh windows install but 12% loss in performance is quite high.

At this point in time, it is not established. Reading through that post. The issue that Hardware Unboxed is experiencing is isolated to the 24H2 public release version and not the Release Preview. They also remarked that their discovery is pertained to CPU-limited testing in games.

Some users said to be experiencing the same, switching between the public release and Release Preview. This is the internet, so it is hard to determine whether those statements are true. There needs to be a curated sample.

GamersNexus said that they have some data, and will communicate it with Hardware Unboxed.

In the instance they do establish that these results are reoccurring events, etc. they will likely make a video about it. Where there are anomalies or inconsistencies, it will be a nothingburger. Reviewers, and others, are still getting dissimilar results with Zen 4 and 5, but the numbers are high so, meh. AMD is weird with system component combinations (motherboard and RAM), whether the Windows/Linux CPU/V-Cache scheduler works, and how Windows is built and setup.

Where Intel could be impacted on a not so old generation CPU I am sure that they will sort it out. Intel is now sued by the Chinese too. I don't think that they have happy days at HQ. Their new line-up better be a hit.

I was thinking the same when this hit the tech news:

X3D Turbo Mode Marketing term for "disable second CCD, get more performance"?

Gigabyte needs to clear this up ASAP because their performance claims seem to all be based on dual CCD models

I would have thought this to be some overclocking, but it will be available on the 600 and 800 series motherboards. There are guides to tweak it manually.

Just FIX it in the OS. How long has it been now?

It's best not to mix and match even if it's the exact same thing, there's a reason they sell them in kits together.

It might have been doing memory training on the previous boots and now it's working, the resolution thing I have no idea.
And the issue has cropped up again, worked for a few weeks and this morning before work, can see it is doing memory training but keeps failing to boot and jumps into safe mode

Forces me to BIOS but can see the sticks are running at 2133mhz and still not booting

Only reason I bought 16gb and not 32gb as I didn't need it when I built it and similarly to laptops can just drop a stick or two in to get to 32gb

Any advice on what to do going forward

Basically saying I have to buy new Ram

Damn that is unfortunate, likely will have to either stick with 16gb or sell these
You can try and swap them around and see, if the one matching pair is in slot 1 and 3 and the other is 2 and 4 pull everything, install the pair from 1 and 3 in 2 and 4, boot up and see if the speed works correctly and then add the other pair and check again.

Will try but it is working now, I swear as soon as I post on MyBB it boots :)

I bit the bullet.

Going from an I5-7500 with 32gb ram to an I7-13700 with 64gb of ram.
Waiting for the parts to arrive.

Hopefully, I will see a big difference.
