New The PC Build Thread

O man was waiting for some black friday deals should have pulled the trigger a month ago, any reason for the massive price inceases must be global as rand is strong...
AI boom, this is why when people always say nah wait for the next X product, I'm like if you've got the money and want a new PC, upgrade now. Waiting for 6 months or so could end up costing you waaaay more..

Yeah the stupid case I wanted also wasn't in stock but should have bought the other parts

Current build I am looking at just the ram I need to find somewhere else

ANy dif between semi modular and full modular psu or only amount of cables ?
Not a bad price on the 850w power supply there, seen that much higher. If you wanna shave off R200 the Maxsun is pretty much the same as the Sapphire
But it has one more m2 slot vs 2 SATA ports.

Apparently Mechanical hdds is now in the firing line as well, ......well enterprise drives which has a two year back order, but I would bet it will filter down to consumer drives soon.

If you build up an array of mechanical discs you can get very good speeds. Fast online storage uses mechanical discs.

Lol how I am suppose run bussiness with these limitations.

@Lupus

Case is here. Didn't bother with taking out the fans, will get new fans for my PC.

Not bad for the price, struggled a bit installing everything with my big hands. Quality is a bit meh, which is one of the reasons I didn't bother taking out the fans. I hate this type of front panel clips, pop one out and another pops back in and the design is a bit flimsy. But you get what you pay for.

Hyper 212 just about fits, there is like a 1cm+- clearance.....I forgot about the beast cooler.

The only thing I will complain about there is no dust filter on top, only one on the bottom, case is a bit on the short side, you will have a hard time fitting a triple fan GPU in there. lol. Not like that is on the agenda anytime soon.

2.3K to get this build functional

4770k
16gig ram
RX 470
Antec 650 watt PSU
2TB HDD
256gig SSD

In other news, Partserv didn't ship the HDDs directly to me, they send it from JHB to the closest office, which is BFN and will ship it from there to me. They phoned me just now to arrange the delivery so should have it Tuesday-ish....

See not to bad :) looks pretty good there.

Modular just allows for a cleaner build and less cable management. If you're not worried about that and can save a few bucks go with which ever one is cheaper. Really.
To add to this, the semi-modular PSU's just have the critical bits always wired - think 24 pin ATX and CPU power. Cables you would anyways have to run regardless.

The only benefit of a fully modular PSU is if you wanted to order and install custom cables, IMHO which, if it's important to you, is something worth considering.

Some people enjoy sleeved cables, or ones with RGB on, etc.
