New WA special?

Added the Titan 1 package as an additional account to my unshaped one...and have been playing BC2 and doing some heavy dl over the weekend. So far, very good. I'll check it out for the remainder of the month before I decide to switch over entirely - might go for the Titan complete package also

Good one WA!

According to this page the option is available under "Key Features":

http://www.webafrica.co.za/adsl/standard/

I emailed them and go the following :

The Top up charges on your current package is at R 69 per.

The new packages are on the same network but no line speed throttling will be experienced and the same amount of shaping will occur.

We will be launching a Recharge package that will allow the client to recharge for R 45 for 3 gb's that will expire the month that they add the data. Our normal top ups will still apply too

I emailed them and go the following :

The Recharge prices are the ones I'm referring to and they have updated their website to include it now on the Normal shaped packages as per the previous link.

I suggest you do speedtests to the USA. I think there's something up in Europe -for everyone on every connection- . I have pretty crappy latency to London, but better latency to the USA than i've -ever- had. I think there's possibly some congestion related to Seacom or something? Both my Afrihost/Axxess acounts has been performing faaar worse than your "worst speedtest ever" to London, so dunno...

Great - will do when I get home. Thanks for the heads up

The topups at R15 p/gb was only on the Titan Packages [up to now anyway]. My 1GB account only have the R69 p/GB topup option (last i checked) , but my Titan package have the new Recharge option.

Under the Titan packages you will see a "Recharge" option and there you can buy "vouchers" starting at 3GB [R45] and then in 3GB increments [3,6,9,12,15,30 etc] . So you can't "recharge" with say only 1GB, it must be in the increments they provide. But i suppose going from 1GB @ R59 -> 3GB @ R45 is -still- a zillion times better.

Right, so I just got a call from Web Africa wanting to confirm some of my details. They then asked me to send the debit order confirmation form back to them (which I did on Friday already). I told the lady I had done so and she said she would just check with billing before activating my account. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I've been using it over the weekend already. Let her run off on her little wild goose chase.

You evil man you :P

Just a note any any who are on the 4 meg MyBB special.

Do not "upgrade" to Titan 2 as you will pay R 100 more and have 5 gigs less than you had on the special as the 16 gigs have now been increased to 30 gigs for that package and also with line speed up to 10 megs if your exchange supports that.

huh?

WA introduced the Titan range. One option is Titan 2 complete. Line speed up to 10 meg; 25 gig Cap and line rental. Cost R 599
MyBB special - 4 meg line with 16 gig cap. Cost R 499 (half price discount on normal cost)

Does this make it clear?

Basically, if you were or are on the ADSL complete special that was offered last month of 16GB with a 4 Meg line for R499, stay on it because they upgraded the package to 30GB with 10 Meg line when available. If however you have already moved to a Titan offering, toughies!

Just kidding. If you have moved to Titan, contact WA and ask them to move you back to the origianal special. This is obviously only applicable if you were on the original special to start with.

The R15/gig recharge is available on other accounts but you need to enable it yourself

Apologies for things going awry guys. Could you please PM me your customer codes so I may investigate?

Thank you,
Soraya

Gimmick, R10 a gigabyte for 50 Gb,( who wants to pay R500) and topup R15/Gb local only, no catch just trying to see who is slow on the take.

Huh? Geez what an incoherent statement. The topup is R15 p/gb for international bandwidth....where do you see it's local only?

The real value in this deal is not the R500 package, it's the packages -below- R500 , i.e. the R300 for 25GB . At the moment , in this country our choices for mid-high usage are actually limited . You either pay R500 p/m for uncapped or hope to get a capped package with enough cap AND cheaper than R500 p/m.

So if you don't want to pay R500 p/m , but still want to use 20GB-50GB a month , then this deal is pretty much it. There's no other option. So the capped offerings is actually MORE FLEXIBLE , since i only pay for what use [mostly].
