New Windows-powered tablet-notebook hybrids now in SA

Went out today to buy the 10" with keyboard! It seems very nice so far! I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but it does come with a micro-USB male to normal USB female adapter. (So I was able to plug in my USB mouse without problems)

I ordered this tablet from Kalahari (without keyboard) - waiting on delivery now. Cost me R2599.00 after applying a R100 discount code.

After searching online, zero reviews - I'm going in blind. I'll revert back to this thread with a mini-review after I've received it.

I just received the goods. To my great surprise it does come with the keyboard and a protective sleeve. I yet to switched it on. If anyone has a question or wants me to perform a certain test on it, I will gladly oblige. Here is a pic - remember it's the 8.9" variant.

That was quick. I'm more concerned about the screen quality and viewing angles. The rest of the spec sheet is more than adequate.

I see Incredible Connection will be selling an 8" Windows 8 Tablet for R1999 from Thursday. The pamphlet doesn't list any specific brand but by it looks very much like the Proline variant.

Quick question for those who have the 8" model. Is it possible to pair a BT keyboard to the device? I want to get the wife one, and quite liking the price of the 8" at the moment, but I know she wants something with a keyboard.

EDIT: Never mind, I've gone through some of the other posts now, and I figure there's no reason it won't work.

Just to confirm, the Microsoft Wedge keyboard with BT connection works beautifully.

Here is a comparison between my HP Envy M6 laptop and this tablet, both on full brightness. The different is clear to see.

Edit: and lastly, I typed "mybroadband" in MS word at font 72 then zoomed the tab to match screen size of laptop - ignore the moire..(pics taken handheld with phone)

What's the audio quality like with headphones plugged in?

I compared the tablet against my Galaxy note3 - same song and ****ty head-phones. I definitely make a favourable distinction for the GN3 when compared with windows media player or the windows Music App. When using VLC player on tab the difference becomes negligible but I would still favour the GN3 sound over the Tab, albeit slightly. I do not know if they could match each other when using different apps on tab, or if the test is rendered flawed because of the crap head-phones..

I have never seen or held a nextbook - maybe it would be best to go into the store and judge for yourself - this tablet is not elegant by any stretch (ala Ipad, Galaxy tab, nexus etc) and it feels thick and pretty heavy too...
