Its called ad revenue. At the end of the day the news is a business.
South africa has fifty-one murders per day on average at last count. Explain to me the comparison. Even so, most countries in europe have fewer than 'eight or nine' murders per day, regardless of population size.
You're complaining about a couple of stories per day, when those are anly a sample. Get over yourself.

I actually avoid News24 lately because i believe it physically does something to you when all you hear is such horrible sstories. I find IOL a little more balanced in their stories. BTW, who owns News24? I know they're part of Media24, but who are the individuals behind the News24 website? anyone care to elaborate?It might explain a few things, you'll never know.
Have you tried comparing their content to the respective news papers? It explain a few things about what they think sells to what audience.
My point exactly. Had a look at their history on Wiki, and let's just say i had an AHA moment.

No, they're not.
Remember that we have 50 murders a day. They don't report on most of them. So... not representative.

Yes, but what BTech is trying to say is that not everything is about death and destruction. I actually find the odd human interest story refreshing and the strange stories like the cat predicting death, or the dog rescuing the baby from a toilet bowl (that was a while ago) ... yes, stories about animals fascinate me

Well News24 can maybe do what "Die Son" does to "balance" things, add a sexy chick on the front page [with links to the uncensored part of her...allowing to skip the entire mainpage story of some celebrity in a sex scandal]...maybe a few teazer-like adverts on the side...
