Nexus S pricing and availability information revealed

The Nexus S is due to be available from Vodacom in mid-April 2011 on a per-minute Business Call contract for R249 per month, which includes 30MB of data per month for the first three months.

This compares relatively unfavourably against Vodacom's 16GB iPhone 4 deal on the same contract, which includes 110MB of data per month for duration of the contract at the same price.

Really now, 30Mb free for the first three months???

How do the service providers have no clue about what kind of data bundles they should be adding to these types of phones. Even the 110Mb for the iphone is low in my opinion. With the cheapest RBM contract from cell c they give your 250Mb!!

30MB is enough to get the uninformed hooked and paying OOB before they even have a chance to lube up.

Common...at least 1024mb per month, is it really asking for so much?

Think of all the business prospects, people downloading more apps and using more web based services via their devices!! 1024mb per month MINIMUM... :erm:

why is there a SA version of this phone ? whith those specs I dont want it.

Murtazin did add that Super Clear LCD “consumes more energy than Super AMOLED” and that he couldn't comment on how well Super Clear LCD performs in the sun.

So, either he did a review and did not take the phone out into the sunlight (yea right) or the performance in sunlight is so bad that he cannot say anything good about it.

FAIL.

The Russians are also getting the Super Clear LCD version of the phone. Most folks are saying that it's due to the Super AMOLED shortage.

Actually he explains that there were no sunny days in the test period for him to review the device that way.

I have seen a YouTube video comparing a Super Clear LCD screen to a Retina display and it seems to perform quite well. If we receive a review device from Vodacom I'll certainly investigate how the screen performs in sunlight.

I would take the contract and toss the simcard in the drawer for 2 years.

Get a sim with the 2gig vodacom package for R149.
for R400 a month you then get the phone with 2 gig data.

This phone was just over-hyped from the start and now we are getting a watered down version. I had difficulty to decide which phone I would rather go for the SGS or the Nexus S (with the hardware on the SGS already being superior imo). The fact that the screen will not be super amoled will be a deal breaker for many.

^ What he said.
The no radio, no expansion and no dual-processor thing bugs me a little.

30MB for only 3 months, why even bother.

Saw this phone on a UK gadget show giving the iphone4 a real run for its money - only problem was the short battery life (2 days).

Now it will be even shorter.

30mb??? LMFAO. From this we can gather that VodaCrap doesn't even know how to SPELL Smartphone. Stop running to the ASA and fiddling with red paint, and focus on putting decent offers in the market, and not this utter shyte.
