Nihilum quits WoW

About the 'spin' thats exactly what I meant it wasnt about it being true or not, there must be hundreds of forums taking about it today, I bet there are more players who know who they are today than there were 2 days ago...marketing I say! Hell I even know that they must have a sponsorship from Dell.

@Kalvaer I find it very amusing that for someone who's played WoW so long you hadn't even heard of Nihilum.
It doesn't require hours of Googling to hear about the worlds most famous WoW guild.

@For those of you saying it's easy to progress if you're sponsored.
While you are correct, Nilhilum lead BC long before they recieved any sponsorship.
Pre-BT Nihilum were not sponsored. It was only after their Kael and Vashj kills that they recieved sponsorship, possibly even after their first few BT kills. (4 on the day BT was opened I believe)

They obviously aint as famous as you think, Or maybe I ain't that important. I really dont spend my hours trying find out what other guilds do and how they do it. I care about my guild and my friends. Thats about it. They might be famous EU side, but I cant remember hearing their name at all on my server. If I did.. opps

I also only even checked the BK rankings today to see where my guild was worldwide after all this talk about the "wooohooo my guild are so cool, we are the leetz. We quit because blizz suck" joke.

I also dont only play WoW, so its not to hard to imagine that I dont know all the intricate politics of those who think they play the world of ubercraft. Dont get me wrong, I think what they are doing is great and opening a whole new side of things for gamers everywhere.. Just didn't know them at all until yesterday.

I heard about Nihilum, pre-BC when they were racing DnT for the first Kel'thuzad kill.
I was playing US.

Oh and now that you have my interest, I actually searched the US wow Forums and found there is a simular thread where quiet a large number of people asking the same. ."hmm WTF is Nihilum"

Granted most of those people who responded seem like 3 bit 2 year olds with spelling worse than mine, But.. Seems I am not the only one, who had no clue about this until everyone yesterday, wanted to know who this guild was and why they should give a flying F..... Some interesting comments there though none the less. Wonder how many are true about thier cheating, and how many are just sour grapes and jealousy

You know by starting that argument here, on a SA forum, we make ourselves just as bad if not worse than those you are now trying to off?

Yea I know this guild all to well ;) was it not the first whole guild that manage to get banned over abusing exploits in BWL? I really don't like them at all, bunch of sensationalists that will try to win at all cost, incl cheating.

Appologies if I messed the guild name with another world dominating raid guild.

I remember reading about a guild that got banned for doing the AQ40 exploit to skip to C'thun but I don't recall hearing Nihilum ever using exploits.
From what i've read and heard (radio interview pre-Vashj kill) the guys work very hard and deserve the world firsts they've achieved.

Tons of stories going around, Hard to really know. Seems "awake" stated in an interview that they never bought gold at all and if they did he would put a stop to it. Now the funny part is, that right after this statement and interview.. He is suddenly asked to leave the guild?

Everyone can speculate of course and never know unless you actually play for them. Been killing myself at some of their articles though.

He wasn't asked to leave straight after the gold comment, he was only recently asked to leave.

WoWinsider had an interview with one of the Shaman in Nihilum and of course the topic of Awake arose.
The guy was quite open about the reasoning behind Awakes departure and it seemed the biggest factor was actually that he wasn't really playing WoW anymore and was trying to hold onto control of the website.
Awake was asked to comment on his departure and he declined.

Speaking of gold buying...We<3Kungen
if you haven't heard it, you shouldn't be raiding :p

Nihilum
Elitist Jerks
Death n Taxes
Pals for Life

You gotta have heard of them if you play the game even remotely seriously.

As I said.. it s speculation, The interview where he mentioned that they didn't do gold buying was after Illidan went down (http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/06/19/awake-from-nihilum-speaks-with-wow-insider/)

Then the interview with Neg stating that Awake was asked to leave right after Illidan. http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/03/26/so-whats-going-on-with-nihilum/

Oh and Cat, i've actually referenced elitist jerks here.. How many times to I have to say I had never heard of Nihilum.. Of course climb into me now because I suck so badly at raiding because I don't know some guild.. Boohoo for me

lol Kalvaer I'm not climbing into you. It's just that WoW is a real cult game and you can't really help bumping into those names on WoW related websites. Most WoWers I know spend a lot of time reading forums etc (because we are geeks) and those guilds pop up a lot.

Ok so hugs and kisses all round?

Optioncarduser... ROFLOL.. that clip was as funny as hell!

Cat, I guess thats always been my problem. My guild got given 10 beta accounts for WoW, and since there was nothing else out that was really good at the time we moved over to it. I've never been a freak about WoW. I play it because my friends do. WoW destoryed a group of friends who had been playing together for 10 years previously because to be competitive, we have to raid everyday. Even one of our other members said the following on Sat
I miss playing with you folks but I really have no desire to jump on an xp hamster wheel. I wish we all could just play some other game that doesnt require a person to devote their life to an endless quest for better armor and xp

Only reason I still play WoW is because its what everyone I know plays, I've never actually liked it. Even tried playing Shadowbane again the last week, But WoW is just better at this moment.. I am PRAYING for something to come out soon that will break the monotony. I'm currently waiting for my WAR Beta account to arrive, But I think for the first time, I might move to EU servers just to have things on a better time to play, I'm not 14 anymore and cant stay up all night and sleep all day.

I know people seem to feel u HAVE to raid 4 nights a week and have no life to enjoy WoW but i quite enjoy the non-Raiding stuff too.
Don't get me wrong I love Raiding with every fibre of my being but I've also burnt out before from constant Raiding and I can appreciate a more relaxed schedule.
I'm quite happy to Raid 1 night a week only if that all I can get provided the people I raid with aren't a bunch of oxygen thieves who feel that because they only do it once a week they can slack off.
That **** will get your ass thrown back into MC :P

Well we are currently battling with Archi, and want it done. But since its US time, We raid at about 2:00am SA time every night, I just cant do that anymore :(

I seriously am considering moving to an EU server, but not looking forward to the grind with WAR being so close and might just give up and move over to that

Pshaw. 'The grind' has been hit with the nerfbat so hard, it's like it got nuked from orbit. A friend of mine levelled up a frost mage AND geared him up to raid level, solo, in 3 weeks.
Levelling virtually happens by itself, merely by running around and doing the quests, and merely by scraping together 'Honored' rep with Cenarion+Shatar+Keepers one is able to put together a starting gearset equivalent to D3. Then simply construct the Spellfire set and you're ready to basically hop straight into T5 content, now that you don't need to be attuned for anything.

3 weeks from level 1 to raiding SSC/TK. Lolwut.

Or, by merely having a level 70 (could be in greens) and completeing a quest chain, Blizzard will hand you a level 70 Death Knight in WotLK.

It's a little bit ridiculous how easy it is, today, to get into endgame as opposed to a year ago.
