Nintendo launches cheaper Switch gaming console

Nintendo Co. introduced a new cheaper, version of its portable Switch gaming console, as the Japanese company tries to expand its customer base to increase the potential market for its games.

The Switch Lite will have a retail price of $199.99 and be released Sept. 20, the company said in a statement. The device is designed to play Switch games in handheld mode and will come in yellow, gray and turquoise.

Nintendo isn't worth the money compared to PS4 and XB1, there's just no comparison and then it cost almost the same, no thank you.

I use my Switch every day. My PS4 gathers dust mostly.

You’re a Nintendo fan or you’re not.

You should try it before knocking it, the portability alongside the quality of games makes it worth every cent. Since I've gotten it my PS4 and PC haven't been getting any attention.

The Switch Lite features a 5.5-inch screen that displays at a resolution of 720p. This shrinks the screen down slightly from the original Switch's 6.2-inch size. Additionally, the Switch Lite will no longer be able to connect to TVs via USB-C and HDMI. This means that the Switch Lite is being positioned as a purely handheld platform, as opposed to a hybrid like the original.

Ok, its actually the DS replacement.

I quite like the handheld-only form factor, but I'm not buying a Switch until it's had a spec bump. That Tegra chip is ancient garbage and cannot be manufactured for much longer. Nintendo has to come up with a hardware refresh for the regular console soon. That's what I'll be buying.

Even if a "pro" model does come, Nintendo has never been about replacing gameplay with a life like fly sitting on the eyebrow on a sniper. Studios know they have to play by Nintendo rules, so if they can get Doom, FIFA and Witcher 3 working on the Switch, they will. If not, Nintendo will continue on it's merry path anyway, they aren't changing to suit anyone apart from Nintendo themselves.

Those type of games are not why people buy Nintendo in the first place, they are welcome additions, but additions is all they are. You can get them anywhere. People buy for the Nintendo experience of Zelda, Mario, Pokemon etc. I have a PS4 for the other stuff. But forced to choose only one, I'd choose a Nintendo without them.

What..the resolution quality is almost PS2 like, no comparison and the portablility isn't a factor as a result, period!
