No EFF Coalition with ANC or DA

Mashaba is a poor choice for mayoral candidate by the DA. Even if they somehow get him elected he's not going to win them the support of the poor which they need to build on for the next election

Exactly the point, they must sacrifice him if they expect to grow support in black areas, or get EFF support in the council.

The poor vote is not so important in JHB, the majority is middel class. Most people in JHB is tired of corruption and mismanagement, and just want good governance which the DA can deliver.

ANC has Ekurhuleni. And the ANC will have Johannesburg unless the DA convinces the EFF to change their minds. Which at this stage, doesn't look likely

Yup but they don't have a majority I believe, so they won't get much passed if the rest vote against.

So basically because he's not racist, unlike Malema, and speaks the truth? K den.

Malema can go **** himself, in that case.
Uh. I think it's more about him being elitist. You can't say poor people can't lead. Wtf.

Malema has just said a big NO to Parks Tau or the ANC, says they'd rather accept Mashaba's mayor-ship despite their opinion of him.

The DA can deliver all that without the antagonistic Mashaba as mayor.

Yes of cause, I guess they want his business experience. Not sure why the selected him in the first place.
Exec mayor is the ceo of the city. Rather have a proven businessman there than a politician?

Eh? 30% of Jo'burg's population live in Soweto alone. Whilst it certainly has its up-and-coming areas, it's a poverty stricken mess for the most part. Another 10% live in Diepsloot, Ivory Park and Alex. I drove through Alex today... have you been? To discount the vote of the disenfranchised is to hand Jo'burg straight back to the ANC.

The poor will always vote ANC or EFF, no mater who the mayoral candidate is or what the DA do. How many of the poor voted DA?

They just need to increase their support under the black middle class.

Good governance FTW
