Noise cancelling headset for work

Ah. lastly. My one colleague uses the wireless Xbox headset with his windows pc. But he seems happy with it, and the fact he can ignore everyone else.

What it sounds like to my ears:

00:00 Clean Recording with Redmi Note 9s. No ANC applied.
01:04 Noise Cancellation
02:08 Noise Cancellation with Music playing at 70db
03:11 Music Playing at 70db with no Noise Cancellation (Normal Mode)

Sorted, the last one they had at IC N1 City, R999.

I was the only single customer in the store lol

Circling back to these. They had a proper real world test earlier on. A 6.5hr flight & I used them continuously for about 95% of the flight. I then used them for a decent chunk of the 2nd 16.5hr flight.

Watched 6 episodes of Dark Matter then started with Killing Eve, finished over 1.5 seasons. So "piracy" for Apple TV+ & then legitimacy for Netflix. Dual pairing between iPhone & iPad running well. They are supremely comfy & fairly lightweight. Additionally they rest lekker & compact (cups fold in) around your neck when you want to zone out.

I really wanted to test out the ANC ~ Boss level setting (shown) drowning out 90% of ambient noises. Transparency drowning out maybe 60%. I put it in boss level mode & left it there. For R999 they're incredibly worth it! Heck if they were 50% on top of that they would still be worth it. Consider me a fan! They will be recommended to anyone who asks me.

Again the only complaint I legitimately have is the bare bones App that does not show the battery level as a %, having said that with ANC on you're quoted 40 hours of playtime (60 hours with ANC off) it's not a deal breaker for me. The EQ presets came in handy as well.

I'm an "Apple guy" but AirPods Max for over x10 more? Hard pass for me. If you're an audiophile/PDF file then perhaps. YMMV.

These Q20i's get an easy 9/10 from me.

Then don't use the app?

"PDF File"

I see what you did there.

It is annoying that the percentage does not show in the app. On Android it randomly pops up in the notifications with the percentage left got left, right and case, but it seems to happen randomly, on my Redmi Note 9S anyways.

Lol! I picked up the "last one" at N1 City this morning.

My loving daughter broke my aged Sony MDR-1000X on Monday. I was happy to spoil myself with the Sony WH-1000XM4 but the build quality complaints and this thread convinced me otherwise.

I mostly use mine for music and meetings as a remote worker.

I need noise cancelling headphones for work.. My wife is forever shouting when she is in a meeting with her headset on and my current headset has zero noise cancelling..

The biggest concern is noise cancelling but it needs to be budget friendly and have somewhat decent sound..

I don't have a specific budget in mind, the cheaper the better of course..
We had a similar issue with a few staff members. We got them headsets with configurable sidetone, so they can hear themselves speak. toned the volume right down.

Sidetone is not distracting, since there is no perceivable delay. The issue is because headsets cover a person's ear, they dont hear themselves speak as well, so they push the volume up. It's actually a problem for people on the other end of the call as well, even though the software will adjust the volume, the speaker comes across as stressed and irritated. Sidetone prevents that.

Poly 3300 series headphones do very well with sidetone, or jabra evolve 30 headsets.

Or if the real problem, is you don't like your wife's voice, get some earplugs ;)

lol, nice one.

From my side zero regrets my end, I still use it in the office these days. Comfort is super NB to me & these deliver.

I've been using a shitty headset for at least 4 years, I absolutely love my music but always neglected to upgrade.
Thoughts on these please?

I don't really care about brand and I'd trade battery life for audio quality any day.

I have this one.
Battery lasts around 4 days being used almost the whole day. ANC is good but doesn't work well on voices, it almost completely erases the noise of the dishwasher or washing machine though. Sound quality is also quite good.

Thank you for your input, I wonder if Takealot will have an issue with me ordering different units from different accounts and then returning the units I don't want.

I'll stick with my povo spec Soundcore's, thanks.

YMMV.

Was that an airport?

The Sony's are overpriced compared to normal retail. They're also plasticky junk and I have no idea how they became so popular. They probably peaked with the mk3 and mk4 which were useful for carrying around as they could fold.

The B&O is decently priced, 5K under regular SA RRP. They're nicely made and have the softest leather earcups you're going to find.

Correct, CT Intl.

Took the pics for maximum (skewed) effect.
