Noise cancelling headset for work

I bought the Sony WH1000-XM4s after putting it off for a long time (always told myself they're too expensive for a pair of headphones).

These things are magical. Used it while sitting at the same table as my ex-SO, who used to have meetings all the time. Really helped with my concentration and productivity.

That being said, I tried on a pair of Anker Q45s (at a duty-free). For the short amount of time I had them on, they felt the same to me as the Sonys, so maybe look into them as well.

Was thinking of going for Sony again for my morning commute (pre-COVID) but decided to treat myself to these instead:

Don’t even realise I have them on, and hear nothing from the world around me with the NC activated.

Gave these a look as well. Think I tried them on at one point and preferred the feel of the Sonys. Also, they were much more expensive.

Anyone tried the Anker Soundcore Space One's? Particularly interested in good noise cancelling for a noisy office.

Got them on sale at the time, and even then it was an early Christmas present for myself to justify the price.

The Sonys just felt too heavy/chunky. The Bose are ridiculously light.

I have the Sony XM5s and the Bose QC 35 IIs. The NC is better on the Sony but the QC IIs are a little more comfortable. Still the Bose sound is Bose, it's a bit muffled. The Sony's have better sound quality, less distorted and more "audiophile" friendly. For movies Bose is OK though. If you are a music purist, go with Sony.

Previous headset was Sony (not XM5s, mind you), and I prefer the Bose all round in comparison.

Look I'm not saying you're wrong. That's just my opinion. I don't have the XM4s. Just the sound from the Bose is shaped in a particular way and if you enjoy that, that's good. To be fair the NC on the QC 35 II and XM5s in the airplane is very good for both of them. If you don't do rapid blind testing you probably won't be able to tell which is better. The Bose is more comfortable I think but with the original cushions, I replaced mine in 22 after they fell apart from moderate usage. My QC II 35s were purchased in Dec 2019. The battery's still good in them for a flight from CPT to North Europe. The XM5s do feel cheap though. I bought both headphones for the plane NC, one for me and one for companion.

I need noise cancelling headphones for work.. My wife is forever shouting when she is in a meeting with her headset on and my current headset has zero noise cancelling..

The biggest concern is noise cancelling but it needs to be budget friendly and have somewhat decent sound..

I don't have a specific budget in mind, the cheaper the better of course..

One would think you would be used to your wife shouting.

One would think it would be enjoyable to hear her shouting at someone else.

Anyone tried a noise cancelling over ear headphones set from Takealot that they can recommend? Budget is R6000 @SauRoNZA

Never been a huge fan of over the ear headphones but I bought the Anker q20i for my 16 hour flight to the US and they were brilliant.

Currently r999 at incredible corruption.

Many thanx guys, I have a co worker on the opposite side of the building and he is LOUD.
When we move into our new premises next year this guy is going to be in the same open office as me.
I want comfortable noise cancelling headphones I can wear when he gets excited

Will check all the links now, thanx

Highly recommend Sony's XM3 / 4 / 5 whatever is on sale. Absolutely THE best.

Nice nice, I don't mind upping the budget if I have to
Does the noise cancelling only cancel out certain frequencies for example engine sounds, etc?
Or will it also cancel out the sounds of a noisy co worker that sounds like that cop from Police Acadamy?

AirPods Pro.

Or increase budget and get AirPods Max.

Other headphones don’t exist.
AirPods Pro have amazing noise cancelling but not over-ear and I do find it uncomfortable to wear them for too long.

AirPods Max are more a fashion item than anything else, they're good headphones but too expensive, bulky and heavier than you want headphones to be.

Its pretty damn good for anything and most things. Some sounds will be much softer. It works the most bestest if you have some white noise or music playing.

If you want dead silence then 3M Earmuffs. (Will crush your skull)
