NOKIA 5800 Irritations!!

I was at my MTN shop to place my order on the 18th of February for a phone, delivery estimate was end of February. Phoned them yesterday..... they still have no stock and only limited quantities will be supplied to the shops.

This is getting really silly.

I have my phone for 2weeks now. Got it from MTN. Took about 3 weeks to get it after placing my order. It's an awesome phone. I had a few problems with the software at 1st but they seem to be resolved with a firmware upgrade.

Only thing that bothers me, is the creaking of the phone.
I think the cover causes that, need to buy a proper one.

I dont have that problem. But then again i've kept my phone in a silicone cover since the day i got the phone

The only irritation I have with the phone is that Opera Mini crashes regularly,

but then, the 5800 XM is not in the list of devices on the Opera website, so I'll just wait a bit until it's added (I assume that they're probably working of a version for the phone) and try again then.

Why bother with Opera Mini when you have one of the most capabile browser already on the phone ?

The on-phone browser doesn't allow for images already in the cache to be loaded when you select "text only" (which the 6100 navigator does). I visit some other forums off my phone and the "reply" and "quote" buttons disappear, which is erm... undesirable :)

If anyone knows a way around this I'd be grateful! :D

I'd prefer to not have most images load so I can keep the data usage down.

Yeah you are right, that is one of the limitations of the built in browser. Hopefully Opera Mobile 9.5 will be coming to Symbian soon.

I like the built-in browser, but I have noticed that it's a bit tetchy.

For example, I can login to a sports forum from the 5800 on a WiFi connection and my MTN sim, but not from my Vodacom sim (on Vodacom it just redirects me to the login page).

I'm not going to stamp my feet about it though because I love the phone on everything else.

Loving this phone, but yeah... opera mini crashes all the time.. so far thats my only irritation..

Haha no thanks. I got it from Vodashop. It just covers the body of the phone not the screen. I'm still waiting for a screen protector. I still have the original protector that came with the phone on. The silicone cover is made by Capdase. It's pretty good. Alot less bulky than the original nokia cover.
