Nokia 6110 Navigator

Date Problem

Still having a problem with the dates... On Sat morning, correct time showed, but date was still Friday. Set the clock to 23h59 on Friday, and the date changed correctly. Very strange. Same again Sat to Sun.

Anyone else experience this?

Also, anyone managed to find a cover, car holder yet?

Has anyone had any luck with the A-GPS feature? It sounds like A-GPS is actually a network-dependent feature. Currently, MTN do not support it. Anyone know about the other network operators?

I think the general feeling is that most people have turned it off as its not really needed. No sense in paying for something you don't have to. I find that in CT the GPS locks on to the satellites quickly enough. I turned off A-GPS the day I got the phone so can't really comment on how or if it works on MTN

You don't have to pay for A-GPS service, it's just a request a couple of bytes in size over your GPRS or 3G connection when you first connect.

Car Holder

Also, anyone managed to find a cover, car holder yet?

I found a universal car holder at Vodaworld - from the SMARTFit people .. its about 350 bucks and fits almost any phone .. even the wide e61i

It connects to the windscreen or the dashboard

Hey guys I am quite worried here.

Just got the phone and turned it on and it asked me whether I am in Joburg or Pretoria....and I am in Durban...so I assume I need to add another map, but I checked the Route 66 DVD and it had no map for Durban.
So bascially can I actually use the GPS on this phone? Can I buy a map somewhere? Or is the overall SA map good enough?

It's busy initially charging at the moment.

Got it as an upgrade on a Vodacom Talk240 from Cellucity in the Pavilion by the way.

It's the best phone I ever had....but I really need the GPS for Durban...I have the directional sense of a fly crashing into things.

Edit:
Nevermind that was just to set the timezone. The GPRS is awesome and works well. I have not actually tested it yet driving somewhere, but it found me perfectly in my house. The whole phone is the most awesome phone I have ever had.

HEHEHE , i guess with all the excitement it very easy to forget the basics :D:D

I have found something which annoys me though. I still enjoy playing games, but on this phone some of the games, when sound is activated, play on like the max possible, which is murder on the ears if the included headset is plugged in and the phone does not seem to have an independant volume control like other phones had so I can either be deaf within the week or play without sound, this goes for movies aswell when using a different movie player other than real player if it does not have it's own sound setting.

The best option seems to be if you encounter something really loud, to just let the earpieces drop and hang, it's so loud you still hear everything....but that kind of still does not help in situations where there should be silence, like playing a game whilst in a doctor's waiting room.

Edit: Maybe I should get a different headset? One with volume control (like a little wheel you turn) any suggestions? I am fine with the original bundled headset, but the sound is really killing me, I love clear powerfull sound, but this a little much.

Hi there, I got myself the nokia 6110 Navigator. My question, is there a way to get updates such as speed cameras etc. for free?

If you have a friend with a Garmin unit and login to garmap.co.za and if the mapping software supports the files, you can try http://www.garmap.co.za/PoiLoader.asp#PoiData

Doesnt nokia 6110 use Route 66 software and if so, dont they have a POI database you can use?

Has anybody been able to control the volume of games or 3rd party applications? I am beginning to think Nokia neglected to add such control....which is murder on my ears.

Will the Garmin software work with the 6110 Nav in you load it to the MMC.

Google also has a app for Symbian phones but it downloads the maps and info realtime over your 3G / GPRS connection as you drive. Luckily is seems to save it. Their navigation and voices are however, payware. Seems that their POI is a bit larger but I haven't checked if they saved it to somewhere save.
