Nokia 6110 Navigator

Paid 39 bucks for a non branded car charger.... been using them all my life and never had a problem.

As for the Apps, I found the same problem with the DivX player, but then realised that if you hit the down 'arrow' on the nav key while its loading, the volume softens and stays that way. Perhaps try that on your other apps. It also works on Fring.

On the date issue front, it seems that if you set an alarm to go off on Weekdays, the date doesn't roll over from Fri > Sat and from Sat > Sun.... if the phone is off.... very bizarre and annoying.

Low call volume

I find the volume on an incoming call to be extremely low. Sometimes I can hardly hear the other party speaking. Yes, I have turned the volume to the maximum during a call.

Does anyone else have the same problem? I've read quite a few posts with the same problem on the Nokia Europe forum.

Thanks

Howzit dudes-
Listen u okes, im seriously thinking of getting this phone-mainly because of its GPS feature.

What i've read so far is that most people are satisfied with its performance. Can u guys give me an update on your views of the GPS. How complete are the maps in ZA and how much does additional maps cost? How is coverage in medium sized cities like Kimberley and rural areas?

Any help would be appreciated

I also got the phone for the GPS functionality. Seems to work fine in the Urban areas although I did find that it went into a "spin" when I was trying to go from Midrand in JHB to the South of JHB. The highway was full and the shortest route that is suggested was via Jan Smuts and through the City Centre. When it was in the City Centre is got "confused" and took me in a circle. I changed the type of navigation from "shortest" to "Fast as possible" and this solved the problem.

I also went to a platinum mine in Polokwane and it did not know about the Maropa Lodge and some back roads in Polokwane.

Apart from the above, it seems to work fine. What i mainly use it for is to get me out and into suburbs that I am not familiar with. Once I am on the highway or a know area I switch it off.

As far as map updates, I have tried Route 66 / Navteq / Nokia and they all give me the run around saying I must speak to the next supplier. I guess we should not expect a map update anytime soon.

Enjoy the phone, I got it FREE on my contract so I did not have to buy a dedicated GPS system.:D

u can use the e65 screen protector on ur 6110 as i have tried it b4 it fit perfectly

Sorry People But I Don't Know Why Such A Big Fuss About A GPS System On A Phone. Next Year Every Single Phone Will Have It And You'll Be One Of The Masses.

Just bought a silicone cover from cellucity waterfront for R150 and the CR-48 car holder for......wait for it.....R400 smackaroos..... better be worth it!

6110

Does anyone have status on this phone? Last I heard production had been cut due to quality/technical issues. I desparately want to get this phone but keep hearing about their backlog on supply and its making me sick. Where can I get one?

Hi Guys

Ok I'm new to this Nokia-GPS move. Is there any special Setup i need to be aware of ?
Software that needs to be installed onto the phone ?

Next question:

Does it have Voice navigation built in or where can I buy a license for it ?

All input appreciated

Hi Pitbull

Just press the navigator button & off you you go. Voice navigation is included. You can download additional voices for free from the route 66 store
