Hi Everybody.

I've just called the vodashop, and 4u shops at vodaworld, and they both say there is some problem, and that the 6680 will only be available towards the end of July.

I really am sick and tired of vodacom's lack of service as far as this is concerned.
Catch a F'ing wake up vodacom.
Limited stock of 6680 have arrived @ vodacom warehouse.I will be getting stock tomorrow. The problem with most Vodashop and 4U stores is they have a HUGE waiting list. All my stock is sold as soon as i get them.I hope i get more.I phone the warehouse today and they told me they did receive stock. They released huge numbers to stores and they now have limited stock. So rush to your nearest Vodashop tomorrow and beg on your knees and ask the manager for one.........Like i said i am getting stock tomorrow but all are sold.....Good luck shopping

Thanks Tahir, if anybody needs me, I'll be camping outside my local vodashop.

Just a question. If Vodacom was aware, which I'm sure they are, and knowing that this cell phone is going to be popular, why is it that they are getting in limited amounts of stock?

Where does the problem stem from, Nokia, or Vodacom?
...

As always; The more phones in the network, the more revenue for the operator. So logically Vodacom would never hold back on releasing a phone as soon as possible (as long as it meets certain requirements). The 6680 was approved a while ago so now it's a question of supply.

There's been a huge demand for these units, I can only speculate that there must be a world-wide shortage of them.

I got a 6680 today....its doing the charge thing.

Is it true that VLive will not be able to be loaded on my 6680 ever?

Can phones from overseas be used here....seeing that we in SA always have to wait so long fro tests, approvals and other red tape, just 'import' the phone if you are willing to take the risk of a 'grey' product?

I've imported two phones, cost a third of the price and both work like a bomb. The Sa postal service is so slack (like telkom), they dont even charge duty properly. If we could import car's via mail we would all be driving the best

Hey Big Cheese, you do realise, of course, that by posting this you have basically obligated yourself to a series of follow-up posts with regards the performance of this baby, right? Good, just checking :D

Thx Caspa, we always pay three times the 'normal' price for technology in SA that's why I asked....probably because none of these handsets are made here and we in SA have to pay horrendous import, handling and distribution fees plus profit for distributors. My contract expires soon but I probably won't get the 6680 in SA, have somebody going to Dubai on a regular basis, love to know if this phone will be worth it.

big cheese : Did you get your phone on contract, or did you order it from somebody like expansys?

Vodacom3g - Its good to hear that I can if I so choose upgrade to Vlive.

Customer care at Vodaworld was adamant that I will not be able to have Vlive (ever) on the phone.

Well here is my first feedback on the 6680 (I have had the E1000 and the V800).

After charging for 13 hours, I loaded the software on my TabletPC and followed the bluetooth wizard. The sync with outlook worked 100%. No cables required.

Connecting via IMAP to a exchange server works well, the e-mails are easily read on the screen.

Its too early for battery life..........I will update in the morning.

I've just received delivery of my BRAND SPANKING NEW Nokia 6680 on contract from Vodacom Direct. It's alot smaller than I expected (Maybe cos I'm currently using a 3650). I just put it on Charge now. I can't wait to switch it on.

vodacom3g, please tell me where I can get a VLive flash done for my phone. Oh, and in the phone's manual it states that I need a VSIM card for making video calls. Is this true?

Well I am impressed so far....

7,5 hours since first charge, with bluetooth on, a few calls, browsing www and not even one battery level has dropped.

The word and pdf viewer work well.

Me again - Just to fill you guys in... After reading the forum yesterday i phoned around , Autopage promised to keep me a phone if one came in... Phoned them again today guess what??? They got very little stock and didnt keep me one! bastards! Gave Vodashop in Cresta a call and they had 7 left. Flew off to Vodashop n signed another contract with Vodashop and cancelled with Autopage. We as South africans dont have to put up with shoddy services, as far as im concerned shyt responses and knowledge from Autopage Cellular does not go down well with me - so sorry Autopage you will be not getting my monthly services (middel finger) hehe Hope you all came right and managed to get the phone.

Big cheese: Don't get too excited. My 3650 uses the BL-5C battery as well, and it takes over a day for the battery to drop its first mark, but all the remaining marks drop in just about the same time that it takes for the first one alone to drop, so don't get your hopes up too high. Have you made any video calls as yet? I've tried, but got a message saying "Video call not supported by Network"

Mohil - Give 155 a call, you need to be provisioned for video call.

Drop me a PM and we can try once provisioned.
