Latest tested and released is 4.04.07. Not sure if there is a V5.

I have asked Nokia (quite a while ago) to partake on the forum and they did indicate they're keen.

Will chase it up again.

Thanks v3g. Another reason why we need to have a seperate Cellphone sub-forum. To address cellphone issues not relating to 3g.

Since last week my nokia 6680 does not switch on after been switched off. The alarm does not go off and when I manually switch it on it only goes as far as the nokia logo which keeps on flashing. no response even when pressing any buttons. as soon as I remove the memory card the phone then boots up.
is this software or hardware?
:(

NieP.

Mine also did that. Try taking out the memory card and then boot it. This worked for me, I had to remove the mem card every time i restarted it.

Then one day I figured I'd copy everything I want from the card, and format the li'l bugger(using the phone). Voila!

Now starts up everytime. Slowly. But it does.
;)

No luck getting my 6680 modem working via bluetooth

I have been trying for just about the entire day to get an internet connection via my new 6680 and a WIDCOMM bluetooth adapter from my laptop. Everything else seem to work fine. I can connect with my phone using PC Suite, I already added all my contacts via the PC, I can get to my messages, (did not try the rest though) and from my 6680 I did a quick visit to the Vlive! web and could browse to see the program schedule for SABC and e-tv this evening.

When clicking "Connect to the Internet" in PC Suite and after setting all the Settings I could possibly set the status shows "Opening port ..." and then "Connecting device ..." and then it just tells me "Failed to connect to the network. One Touch Access could not connect to the selected device."

The modem does not respond when I try to query it from the Phone and Modem Options under Control Panel either.

Is there someone that experienced the same problems may be?

That's me!!

You have just written a carbon copy of my experiences.
Have you tried the version 5 Widcomm drivers? They also don't work.
I can use the Microsoft drivers to some extent, but when I do multiple downloads on 3G (not EDGE) the connection hangs and I have to disconnect and reconnect.

Maybe try the Microsoft drivers? If you've got Windows XP, uninstall your Widcomm drivers, just plug in the Bluetooth dongle and Windows should autodetect it and install the drivers. See if that works. If you can connect to the net, start downloading say 4 files simultaneously and see if your connection hangs. Mine does within a few seconds from starting the downloads. Sigh.

EDIT: Also see this thread. Maybe reply here if you have further comments, Johan

This was before my bluetooth modem (using Widcomm drivers) stopped working completely.

Yes ajax

I picked up that you had the same problems. I will get back to you.

Maybe the problem is that we both are in Stellenbosch. :)

Klaas,

If I remove the memory card it boots. I was thinking of a card format and will now do so later today, will let you know if it works . . .

That is but one of my problems since the last software upgrade. I had to reinstall my notebook's bluetooth drivers and software to get the connection to work. My bluetooth headset is still "connected" according to my phone, even though I haven't been within 10km of it for the last 3 days :(

Screw this ... anyone have anything good to say about the N70?

I know it's illegal but someone should probably know. Is it possible to unblock a Nokia 6680? I was robbed of mine at knife point and I guess I'd feel a bit of satisfaction if it was impossible for the muggers to unblock it.

My 6680 has made a turn for the worse. Can't even get the recent call log open ... luckily I replaced it over the weekend with a STABLE 6230i. Nokia seriously needs to look at the Symbian OS phones, especially the 6680!!

Maybe you got a Monday morning one? My 6680's been very stable, especially after the v4 upgrade. I do reboot it every now and then, but not more than once every ten days.

Talk about unstable phones, get yourself an i-mate! Make no mistake, I love them, got 4 of them including the JasJar and the K-Jam. But boy, they need constant love and attention, especially the K-Jam. JasJar is actually not to bad.

v3g, I dunno what's up anymore ... decided to hard reset the whole unit, and maybe if I have time or feel like it, I'll try it without ANY extra apps loaded. But for now it is used as a charging station for the 6230i batteries. I will give that to Nokia: Universal chargers, batteries and headsets. I think my last 4 phones all used the same chargers, including 2 Bluetooth headsets. I still have chargers and normal wired headsets that have never even been opened.

So for that I will give Nokia Props. As for my 6680 ... BLEH!

6680 Problem

How does one switch off the dictionary on this phone ? It does not understand Afrikaans that well.

Riaan.

According to Nokia, the new batch of 6680's use different hardware components and thus needs a different firmware, thus v5. Functionally, it's the exact same as v4. The new firmware also runs on the previous hardware platforms, i.e. the current phones.

So, no new fancy features.

Any chance of it making an older phone more stable?
