I'm looking to get this phone on contract soon. Been searching around but cant find any indication of pricing. The phone costs below R5000 on prepaid. So that's about R208 per month for 24 months ignoring any airtime or data. Anybody know if there is going to be release specials?

I think that NokiaRSA said contracts will be available mostly from Autopage) around the end of Oct. MTN etc will still be 'testing' & should have contracts available mid November ( my speculation). I think u will pay R275 on MTN & hopefully, hopefully they will throw in some data this time as well/

I don't really care if they have data. It rather they sell it R100 cheaper than add 130mb data per month. Will swap to a CellC sim if I need to do anything that eats data.

Also, is it possible to port a prepaid sim to another provider if needed? I've had the same number for 10 years on a Vodacom prepaid sim. So changing numbers would be a problem. Never had a contract.

I have an MTN Procall 120 contract. Autopage said that the pay-in would be about R1000, and I'd have to change my contract over to AnyTime 350, as the old Procall contracts are being phased out.

Nokia N8 on MTNSP Packages FYI

MTN100 - R269 with 75MB included
MTN200 - R329 with 75MB included
MTN350 - R429 with 75MB included

MTN100 - R369 with 300MB included
MTN200 - R429 with 300MB included
MTN350 - R529 with 300MB included

what a rip off from Autopage
N8 on MTN anytime 200 : R200pm with R 2215 pay in!
they should divide the pay-in by 24 & add it to the monthly payments

??You can either pay R200 per month with a payin or R329 with no payin.

ya, when i posted that the MTNSP prices was not up...still Autopage should offer it (& MTNSP) for R292 which includes the pay-in.

My colleague just took delivery of the phone. Look and feels much better than the N97 (Old symbian).

Still not sure about the touch screen thang...Apple have a good thing going with their iPhone when it comes to the touch UI. The N8 mos def is functionally, a better phone!

I wish that someone who actually has the phone will give us their experiences

So far so good. Great applications - pretty much the same as you can get across the Android & iOS. Only thing still looking for is the swype type application - where you dont have to lift your finger from the screen. Is avail for some of the nokias - just note the N8 yet.

It is a solid phone compared to the Galaxy and iPhone.

Have loaded the DSTV application where have 3 channels available. Doesn't work all the time - not sure if it is a network or phone issue yet. The Web TV that comes with the phone - CNN & Nat Geo and one other channel cant get to work - yet ;-)

Havent done enough experimenting yet to give much more info.

skybound, thanks for the info, how long does the battery last? - average

edit : u may want to check this place for info :

Thanks for the link.

Battery life seems to be a little better than my E71. Seems to average around 2 - 2.5 days and that was during some heavy phone call and data activity. Must have charged it 3 times in the week I have had it.
