Nokia N97 from Vodacom

Hi,

Some good news, the Vodacare shops have V11 available to upgrade. :D Not available through the software upgrade though... :o

Did confirm this at two different Vodacare shops. Woot....

Sure they have used up most of those...:o Let's be honest, they have been in this business for more than 15 years. They should be getting this right by now.

Hi i feel your pain man, all the advertising is done with the white N97 and i fell inlove with it, now they only supply that butt ugly black one. Just kidding, its still a N97. So i just wanted to know if you received your white N97 yet and from which dealer i want to try it too.

I feel a bit more at ease about Nokia now, knowing that they are not the weak link in this frustrating chain from manufacturer to consumer.

I will therefore insist that Vodacom order me a White N97 (directly from Nokia if necessary) if I'm to continue making use of their services.

Here we have it in black and white (no pun intended) from Nokia. So I'm not going to buy any more excuses from the dealers.

Anyone care to join me in taking a stand?

As I've said before, this is not about the colour of the phone, it's about freedom of choice and being satisfied that you've got the exact phone you wanted for the next 2 years.

You can get white phones from MTN.... why would you expect our be-hated Vodacom to give you as the customer choice and/or good service???

My local vodashop assistant proudly shows his white N97 to all the interested customers while working at Vodashop.... the funny part? HE GOT IT ON CONTRACT FROM MTN ACROSS THE WAY!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH~!!!!!!

People associated with Vodacom dont even by their @#!^#%^#!@$~!!!!!

Anyway, I digress, he got the white phone from MTN Irene Mall, Centurion. Give them a call....
 
I handed my N97 in at Vodacare... I realised that the flash is faulty, it causes a "misty" haze to appear in the picture, every time!

So, they said they will upgrade the software fix the flash, and then, after 100years when I get my phone back and the sofware is still buggy... I'll be forced to debrand and upgrade to the MTN software....

Oooooi, never, ever, ever buy the first of any new technology......... EVER!

Can you say: "Nokia/Vodacom FAIL"?

Braamm....thats no misty haze.....thats the famous N97 scratched lens. Add to that the fact that the glass between the flash and the cameras acts like optic fibre reflecting off of any imperfections in front of the lens......Join the club, I have this too..... See the post by Leftfoot

a "sort of solution" is to use a permanant marker to draw around the lip around the flash to stop light going down the glass....it takes 90% or so of the light bleed away. To new users of the N97......NEVER CLOSE THE LENS COVER! IT WILL GET DAMAGED!.....leave it open or remove it so
I have now removed my self destructing lens cover

Seriously, I'm not sure what the hell nokia was thinking... I googled it and see there are petiotions to have nokia recall the device for the scratching issue!!!

For heavens sake! What a stuff-up!

Well in that case VODACOM if you are listening please email me [email protected] and offer me a white N97 otherwise i will be forced to go to mtn and i really dont want to. i know their service sucks but if thats what i have to do for a white one so be it. PS i'm upgrading/getting a new contract 15 Sept. O ya i'm in Cape Town

Sorry, I got it in Black from MTN.
Not sure it will be available in White in SA, but who knows, in time maybe ...

Any way, one review I read said the black has better legibility of keys on the keyboard in sunlight.

Anyway, so far I'm really chuffed with this phone. Nice piece of hardware.
 
Ok, so there is absolutely not point to having Vodacom "upgrade" the software to the "new" version.... nor having them fix the flash issue...

Vodacom FAILS ...... AGAIN....
