I am very interested to know why some ISP users are just "given" extra gigs! I am a Closure 3 user and have 1 gig. Whay am I never just 'given' gigs??
A friend of mine who was always on 3 gigs was just given and extra 2. Why are the Closure 3 ISP users exempt from this?

Are you on dial-up or ADSL?

MWEB did a similar thing a few months before they introduced uncapped IIRC. 2GB went to 3, 3 to 5 I think. However, their 1GB package remained at 1GB. Their explanation, IIRC, was that the price of that package was already as low as possible and they could not justify adding another 1GB to such a "budget" package. Maybe the same applied to Telkom packages.

It did.

It's Closer 3... but Closure sounds a bit better.

You should move to an ISP like Afrihost for cheap gigs if you want more.

Hey someone actually has to pay for those free gigs, Telkom obviously chose the low-usage people to carry that burden for them.

I'm not a Telkom apologist, but that package* does include other "benefits" like free minutes/calls/whatever. Couldn't say if the extra stuff is worth it though. It would have to include very good benefits which you actually use every month.

MWEB uncapped 384kbps all-inclusive, for example, is R349, compared to the Telkom 1GB package* which is R532.

Yep, it all depends on his call usage.

If you move to "Do Level 2" for an extra R59 you will get an extra 4Gb.

We are missing the point here. I do not want to pay more to have an extra gig. I do not want to move because I have had good service with Telkomsa, My question was, why are some users exempt from being 'given' free gigs? Who are the privalaged? I feel that my R532 or thereabouts is worth being one of the privilaged!
Another thing, is there anywhere on the Telkom website that I may go and see how much of my cap has been used so that I am not suddenly just cut off! Mweb has this service!
Thanking you all in advance for your help!
