Hi and thank you for your help.

This tablet is frustrating me enormously.

Spec: (NO extra Apps installed yet.)
OS: Android 6.0
Device Storage: 2.36 GB used of 10.99 GB
Internal Storage: 2.33 GB used of 3.70 GB
SD Card: 23.82 MB used of 7.29 GB

Since I do not have a whole lot of internal storage, I bought a 8 GB SD Card and formatted it is internal storage. Before I just formatted the SD card again, I had about 700 MB of internal storage free. So, I formatted the SD Card again and did a complete factory reset of my tablet.
So, with a clean installation and clean SD formatted as internal storage, I tried to move Flipboard app to the SD card. I then got the bad message, not true message again: "Not enough storage space". This message while there is a lot of free space on my tablet and SD card.
I have read almost everything on the net about what to do when this happens. I have tried to clean cache and who knows what else. As you can imagine this is VERY frustrating.
I have also, after the factory rest the first time, installed the free app to clean the cache. This has not helped.

What advice/fix can you please help me with to fix this very annoying problem?
Secondly, can I set the tablet to automatically store newly downloaded apps, photos and so on, on the SD card and not the internal story of the tablet?

Thank you very much. Looking forward to your help.

Last time I was able to remove the no storage problem when I went to backups and deleted the backups (on a Sony phone).

Settings --> Apps --> Backups (I think).... phone reported lots of free space but all apps reported out of space... turned out the backup was before firmware upgrade and the firmware upgrade failed. So the backup was not counted towards any space used and Nothing could be done to fix it... removed the backup and suddenly everything was working again

Root your device and install Titanium backup. Some apps cannot be installed to the SD card, and only onto internal space. Try to disable or uninstall some apps you dont use

Install ES File Explorer. Click on analyze now and delete like a mad man. Just make sure you empty the recycle bin

Some apps that hog internal storage: Google App (80+mb) and Google Play services (60+mb)

Settings
Apps
(Goto the app)
Storage
Clear Data

That app has become a useless bloated mess - it used to be really good but I cannot bring myself to use it anymore.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am busy rooting my device based on this video tutorial I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTeuF4uJ6lU

I am not sure which boot image I have to use for my Vodafone tablet. Is there a way to confirm which one I have to use?

It's the internal storage that gets bunged up with cached data. The more you have the quicker it fills up. And apps that won't move to the SD card (yes WA you are a big culprit) just make it more annoying.

I got the same problem - about two years ago I strolled into a Samsung signature shop in Cape Town. I bought their top of the range 10.4" Samsung TABS S tablet. Beautiful high definition display for movies, web, apps etc. I told the salesman - for crying out loud, why is it only available with a 16 GB ROM ? This is a device you would want to store your entire library of videos, music, books, magazines on.

He assured me, "don't worry....just plug in an SD card, and load everything on there". Ye right, I got home, and nothing wants to save to the SD card - I can't move apps there. If I load videos or music on the card externally, and then put it into the tablet, it wipes the data off.

So, with 16 GB on board, and the operating system using about 4.5 GB, I only have about 11 GB of memory available grrrrrrrr.

I have seen youtubes, where you can force the tablet to use the external as the internal and the internal memory as the external.....but it can slow the tablet down.

So....my tablet sits in the cupboard, never gets used. 16 GB on a 10.4 " top of the range tablet ?????? give me a break Samsung

@surfs-up You can transfer stuff from internal memory to SD card via the File Manager. Being doing it for ages on my Galaxy Tab 4.

My gallery indexes the stuff on the external SD though? I have movies, music and pictures on my 64 GB ext. SD.
You'd want to avoid making your external SD card internal, the memory just doesn't last as long and is usually slower.

@OP, be sure to check WhatsApp backups, for some reason they don't delete on my phone. ES File Explorer, if installed, has a recycle bin installed which stores the deleted items, your system thinks they're deleted but they aren't. Just go and clear it out.

I freed up 2 GB yesterday due to ES File Explorer's recycle bin.

Yes, I transfer all my WhatsApp over. I prefer ZArchiver over the built-in one due to the easy multi-select and the address bar having a drop-down which lets me quick select the external SD. ES File explorer also has the swipe right if you have the window open to get the external SD/LAN/Network window.
