Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

I guess it’s Valorant’s anti-cheat that prevents support.

I tried CS2 this weekend and was not too bad. Will be better with 120fps though if supported. Beta is capped at 60fps
The 3080 tier will do wonders, can't wait.

Kernel level anti cheat and the fact that Valorant doesn't run on VMs is the problem. Don't think it'll ever come to GFN

Anyone who isn't on rain receive an invite yet? I've literally fallen sick from waiting for one

They was, but not anymore...
I'm still a Rain 4G customer (on their old Pay-as-you-go plan, so don't pay a monthly fee if I do not use any data for that month), but it still shows up as a contract on the Rain dashboard, so I am still a Rain subscriber technically. I think they literally just started selecting people with any Rain package for initial beta testing. They also asked for your geographical location during beta waitlist signup, so maybe they are selecting multiple Rain users at different locations for now - but they are definitely not just selecting Rain 5G users to test the latency on their own network as I was also invited. If I had to use their 4G network I would have to try and stream games with 2Mbps to 10Mbps speeds in my area  Their dev team working on this is probably not too big given the slow progress. I do think they will have another round of invites to the beta if it runs for some time before they leave the beta.

so let's say I had an old rain sim that I used to pay for, if I link that sim to my rain account, I have a slight chance of getting an invite?

They said 4 weeks from the intial beta exposure, I see this as midpoint milestone if they are extending invites.
I was told over the phone last week, that the beta has more than 2 phases and all these phases will determine the date of launch.

It's just a long waiting game rn

Well, there was internal beta, now there is closed Public Beta so its really up to whether they mean an additional public Beta but most would skip that if they have already done two rounds.

next we might be able to test their ultimate tier

No feedback @Yuu ?
Eish! Lazy and playing lots of Valorant :sneaky: [waiting for you to join, lvl 31 now].

Signup / First time setup

It was really easy, I like this because seeing as the service has been around for long, it has been streamlined to make it easy. Anyone worried, don't be.

BUG*
The one thing as mentioned above, when you go to complete payment , you need to wait 10 minutes for the button to appear.

Once that is done, it's smooth sailing.

Account linking

This is abit limited because in the settings tab you only have Ubi/Steam/Epic. Rest are done based on the store you choose upon game selection. Sometimes logging in again to said store will be required, make sure you have your details on hand. It's relatively easy.

Geforce Now Experience
It worked really well, this for me is the first time experiencing cloud based gaming and I got to say, it is definitely the future to have a service at the ready. Want to help a friend make a decision about a game, login to your device/their PC [don't forget to logout ] to let them have a go. Great to upsell a game and add to the ever long unplayed library.

Games start relatively quick, the standard settings will adjust based on your connection. I didn't have any issue getting 1080p 60 working. Tried Fortnite [custom game] and Rocket League. Even connecting my controller after the game loaded immediately recognised the controller. That is awesome. You can even push the games higher on server level upto 120/200+ fps and your 60fps stream will be smooth.

I haven't tested on our 2017 Shield TV yet but going to in a week or two.

You can also adjust the settings in the GFN app on Windows to force settings and not let it lower the quality.

Final thoughts

Definitely a much needed option for those who want to game on the move, not worry about upgrading PC straight away to enjoy the latest games [after buying/redeeming free] and getting best experience through cloud. I am sure a nice review is upcoming soon [;)] from a certain someone to go into more details. Overall, this has been a very easy beta to try out.

Rain has done an amazing job becoming an Alliance Partner but I would love to see more open communications from them, they are there and we are here. We have no interaction with them. They can make this a long time success if they are willing to have a open line with the community. This forum is the largest in SA, partner up for future giveaways [giving keys/gear/merch/etc] and let this grow into what it is fully capable of.

I hope everyone gets a chance soon.

I am not an active rain customer but also have a sim linked on the account from few years ago.

gLhF everyone

Edit: added note about rain under final thoughts.

Assassins Creed Mirage on Max settings with Nvidia DLSS enabled set to Quality. 52 FPS. Max streaming connection speeds was like ~70Mbps which is quite demanding actually for 1080p set to max streaming settings. 4K should be something to admire especially if you have 100Mbps or faster fibre.
