Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

So you’re telling me I just suck at Warzone ? Lol
Just aim for the head, lol.

No but seriously there's been a growing valid concern with some legacy COD games which are still using P2P, opens up a hell of a lot of security issues, will be interesting to see how Microsoft tackles that post-acquisition.

Think overall stuff is pivoting towards dedicated hosting because of things like crossplay, which is probably a nightmare to do P2P with, think having scalable hosting and paying for that is less than paying tech support for P2P also, which is probably massive overhead.

My ping is also between 19 and 21ms - I'm also in Cape Town. Hopefully GFN is a massive success in SA and then Rain & Nvidia will add more servers at Teraco in Cape Town too.
4 out of 9 GeForce Now Alliance partners has 2 servers. So its a 50 50. But i think they will in my opinion because most South Africans would rather use GFN than buying a monster pc...

50/50?
The more servers, the better but I really struggle to see why they'd add more servers in cpt when (on fibre), you'd get less than the recommended 40ms of latency to the JHB server, no matter where you are in the country.

Fist time playing Gears of War yesterday. Have to say it looked gorgeous. a constant 60fps for the most part and was shocked when i saw the settings was set to ultra. This is a game changer for me since i have never really played PC games because high spec rigs was just out of my price range.

I played on my laptop and cant help but think its nicer to play on smaller (Monitor screens) because of the dpi? i normally play on 60 inch 4k tv. whats your thoughts on this.

I would rather buy a monster pc than use GFN, but my finances just doesn't allow it.

Friend of mine got a "budget gaming pc" from Evetech for R26 000 D:

That's just crazy, if you ask me, but if I had the money, I would do it too.

GFN is an awesome option for those of us without big fat bank accounts!

Battlefield 2042 has been patched and is online and it's a free weekend on steam so you can play it for free if you don't have EA Play. Nvidia DLSS also supported.

So feedback from a person running old kit.

Very nice.

My game time is quite late so no issue getting a slot last night. I tried Starfield ( not no installation or configuration ) on xbox pass. Worked well, system defaulted to medium graphics but was pretty smooth and MUCH better than my kit. I did play around with tweaking some of the settings ( took it to high, removed film grain and motion blur ) , still seemed fine for me and played most of the tutorial.

I then tried a fps Battlefield 5. Ran perfectly fine, no tweaks and no noticeable latency between instructions, screen and server. The wierd thing though was that with EA I get this pop up about network and it claims I am experiencing a 5-7% packet loss? Testing on my link does not reflect this and my "gaming" pc is cabled vs wireless so rules out my home wifi. Still didn't notice anything though.

A bit odd was that with playing Starfield, I expected to just play the others. Note Starfield is "technically" not in my library ie: I havent downloaded it but I do have access to it. Battlefield V was the same but the EA integration seemed to only want to list the games I had physically installed on my local pc. When I opened B5, I went through the installation procedure and it listed my local drives and cancelled. Suddenly it became avilable to play EVEN THOUGH NOT INSTALLED LOCALLY , so there's something a bit off between EA and GeforceNow but it works fine.

The actual experience was very pleasant. Looking to try some more tonight as well.

Got my invite. Just signed up and linked my Steam account and checked if everything was working.

Can't test now as I'm working, but will check on my Shield later on and see what the experience is like.

Latency is around 25ms using the test if anyone is interested, Cape Town.
