Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

Something interesting, when that Activision deal went down, Ubisoft secured a hell of a lot of rights for streaming, reckon our big ISPs should start getting very friendly with Ubisoft, lol, some potential here.

Also find it funny that Xbox hasn't pulled something in this market yet with regards to streaming.
Microsoft/Xbox does have streaming(Xcloud). But you have to purchase Gamepass Ultimate

Also not available in SA

Microsoft installed Azure servers in JHB & CPT for this back in 2019, was meant to start beta test in 2020... then BAM!!! Covid, and the virus killed it cause after that the idea just died off.

Rumor also has it that Microsoft starting to reassign US cloud servers to AI cause the ques been increasing lately without an uptake in gamers.

Introducing GeForce now by Rain - the game service for JHB gamers only

This routing / loss is a **** show.

Any other CPT users on different ISPs want to share their peering results (I'm on Vumatel/CISP)

MAGICAL!

So:
1.) ISP / RAIN routing goes CPT INX --> VODACOM --> JHB --> RAIN (broken and lossy as hell)
2.) CloudFlare WARP also uses VODACOM --> JHB --> RAIN (broken and lossy as hell too)
3.) CPT --> JHB --> GeForce Now via Oracle Cloud ARM instance is happy! No Loss, stable routing and latency!

So there is nothing Cool Ideas can do to favour the Rain peer in CPT?

Doesn't look like it from my initial ask - I'll nudge it again in a week or so after I nudge Rain for another update. I moved from Afrihost --> CISP and I'm finding more and more that I miss the Afrihost network for some things.

Not available officially. But you can use VPN to access it. I assume the ping will be horrendous though.

Can you check again? We (Afrihost) no longer learning 196.46.64.0/21 and the more specific 196.46.65.0/24 from NAP in Cape Town or Durban.

I've had quite a bit of time today to play around and run some tests.
With the help of some public looking glasses, I was able to run a few traceroutes from different CPT based routers.
Used looking glasses from the following companies: Rocketnet, DataKeepers, MikroTik and Seacom.
Also used my ec2 instance to see what amazon's routing was like as well.
Out of all these traceroutes, Seacom's one was the only one that had a vodacom path in it. All the others were similar to each other and just stayed clear of the vodacom based path.

RocketNet traceroute:

DataKeepers traceroute:

MikroTik traceroute:

Seacom traceroute:

Besides RocketNet, all these are just businesses so it isn't indicative of the routing that most consumers get.
Even @cavedog 's traceroute from that cptspeedtest.afrihost was similar so I do really wonder if it's just cool ideas customers that are facing this issue or not.

I don't have that test button on the XBox via browser. I'll check tomorrow on the Chromecast Android app if I can test for you. I'm in Worcester, Cape Winelands, with Herotel and having a great experience so far.

Thanks for this!

Although 196.60.71.10 is Vodacom peer.

Mine seems to peer pretty well, direct to ISP vox, then JINX and straight to rain.
