Oculus Quest 2 - worth it?

How do these things handle sweat? I've seen some of the games (Thrill of the Fight, for example) - you end up sweating buckets, both on the controller and in the headset
Wearing a sweatband helps somewhat. Also a strong fan will help (Also helps giving yourself a real world reference). But yes, that game is intense as a workout, sweating is inevitable. Keep a towel handy and be prepared to take the headset off inbetween rounds to get rid of the sweat.

I'm probably going to give Resident Evil 4 a try this weekend, hopefully worth the $40.
Let us know how it is. I am considering RE4 or that The Walking Dead game, both of which seem to be very highly rated. Not in a super hurry though, quite happy to just do Table Tennis/Pistol Whip/Beatsaber. Those games are really my go to and are essentially infinitely replayable.

It does, but I have that one as well as my own one, the one that Oculus sent out isn't great.

I highly recommend:

Using these at the moment, way nicer than the previous ones I had, you can adjust the size of the hand strap, also makes them a little bit longer, so way nicer for my hand size, and don't have to grip the controllers, as in open hand is fine, this is a huge plus for some games where they do toggle click instead of hold click, and stopped controller slipping when swinging around in pistol whip melee.

For strap replacement I am using:

Which is good, but I'd probably go with a halo strap design if buying again (plus back padding is glued on, so ended up gluing some magnets on to hold it in place instead so can clean it), the one usually recommended is:

I really like the Kiwi headstrap, got it a few weeks ago and it feels super comfy. Also is quite neat that you can flip the headset up and still keep it attached to your face to take a sip from a drink or whatever.

Got the same Kiwi grip covers that you got, can agree really is a nice upgrade.

Note Pavlov Shack Beta is still currently free, so if running Pavlov directly on the headset:

Sad,y there are quite a few people cheating/hacking, have met people with infinite bullets, life/armor, but there are enough games that are generally still good. Co-op zombies is fun, but not public lobbies since most of them are taken by kids that just do exploits, e.g. Nacht der Untoten hiding behind the Wunderbox.

Ancient dungeons is also very good, it's paid now but imho worth it if you're looking for a single player rogue-lite dungeon crawler, map is randomly generated

I actually do that - have headband, wrist bands, and old hand wraps (20year old) from when I used to actually spa... and then a fan, because I was evicted to the garage because of the swamp I leave behind after 40min.

Worked through normal - almost done endurance - doing 2-3 matches every 2nd day with a 1.2x multiplier, it becomes a serious workout - and although tired, it doesn't feel like an actual cardio workout (boring).

Yeh, I'm looking for something "adventurey" with some sort of story line, also considering The Walking Dead. Will see how much free time I get this weekend.

Ah, think that's what I have in my basket :)

Anyone else here loose everything with the outage?

I got to discover just how piss poor Oculus support is.

Well this was fun - what do you guys recon a damaged Quest 2 is worth? Top quarter of the screen has a bad weird ghosting effect - the picture takes a few seconds to update. Controllers are fine. Too bad I'm not overseas because the controllers are worth gold there

And Meta Support have responding saying they won't support the device because I'm not in a supported country - pretty much expected.

They offered a a $15 voucher which I can't use without buying another headset, and said the ghosting might be fixed in future firmware release.

(although my display is still usable, the ghosting at the top is too much of a distraction for me)

Hello then, anyone upgrade since these posts? And if so, to the Quest3S or the Quest 3 normaal?

Quest 3, definitely worth it for me. Way better screen, color pass through, and hand tracking, been playing games like Cubism with it, and Demeo is a lot better with pass through.

Controllers are a lot lighter, like it for non-shooters, shooters the grip position on the Q2 was a bit better, but it's a matter of what you got used to I think, if start, go Q3 straight.

Q3S or Q3, if can save up within a reasonable timeframe, go the quest 3, just make sure to budget in accessories like a halo strap (with battery), and grips for the controller, noticeable quality of life difference (elite strap really isn't that comfortable, wish I'd sent it back earlier).

Thanks been watching reviews on Youtube, some say the passthrough is better on the 3S cos of IR and its darker on the 3?

And is the screen / view / resolution THAT much better?

I wouldn't buy it primarily for the passthrough capabilities - while fun, you'll most likely use it more for "immersive VR".
That said, if you get the cheaper 3S then you'll likely want a second headset to play with family/friends and might opt for the 3 for yourself.

The pass through is the same, but it should look better on the 3 as the lenses are a lot better. The quest 2 lenses are not as good.

It is substantially better.

EDIT:
Think of the Quest 3S as the Xbox Series S basically, it has a fast enough chip and same pass through that it runs everything so you have technically the same experience, and it's designed to be at the price point that most (in the US) can buy one with what's left at the end of the month as an impulse purchase.

The Quest 3 is the Xbox Series X, it has all the extras that make it a good product, the lenses mean everything just looks good rather than just works.

If you don't have the income to get to a Quest 3 / other things have priority, then consider the 3S, if you can save up for a little longer, the Q3 is just a better product/experience. The Q2 my biggest issue were the lenses, not having stuff clear/sharp all around, forced to look straight at anything to be able to read the text properly. Going pancake lenses sorts out that issue and for me is a huge QoL difference.

If you're only playing shooters, it's kind of okay, annoying if e.g. maps that are further distance, and it's generally fine for stuff like beat saber and pistol whip, but if playing any SIM stuff like racing/VTOL, or other story line games, or stuff like Demeo, it gets tiring fast having to look dead center at stuff rather than just look at it.

I think you also have to use both in person to understand how much of a downgrade the lens difference is, so if you end up getting the Q3S, you'll be happy with it I think.

EDIT:
And other note: If you have glasses and want to get prescription lenses, get the same as driving as you focus further, not close like reading.
