Official Afrihost Q&A Thread

First day with Mweb and I could actually download again... to test I managed a good 9GB over night. Thank you mweb. Afrihost just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Do they refund a pro-rata amount when you cancel?

web africa must be laughing at afrihost now!

Well no they won't be because webafrica tarnished their name but saying it is unsustainable while thousands sign up with mweb. Webafrica should have said we are unable to offer it right now.

Ex AH client, with Mweb uncapped now, but it hurts to read the bashing AH receiving on this forum. I feel sorry for them for the simple reason, if it was'nt for AH R29 offer we would still be dreaming about uncapped and still be paying R 80 plus per gig.

Hey, I gave Mweb a shot today, but their speeds are TERRIBLE, I was getting a pathetic rapidshare speed of 35kb/s with Afrihost, but with Mnet it was 13kb/s...I am sticking with Afrihost til someone can present me with better option.

WebAfrica is not doing a lot of laughing right now. While their caution (inertia) looks prudent in the hindsight of Afrihost's uncapped experience, there are no crowds flocking back to WebAfrica to pay their ludicrous R50-R70 per gig prices.

When they get pricing and products right, then, and only then, will there any room for laughter.

No, not laughing, cannot see anybody on this forum moving to WA. Who in their right mind will move to WA and pay that ridiculous prices.

Have you noticed how many people still seem to have WA accounts? I've read countless people saying they've moved back to their WA account since AH started slowing down so drastically.

Agree 100%

I am still with Afrihost and wont change cause I dont need uncapped.

I just note the irony and how quickly public opinion can change.

today i had bad lag on my other account so i tried my afrihost capped prepaid account and normally i never get dced when playing online games but no got dc 3 times in a period of 30 min and normally i never get dc with afrihost
was them doing uncapped accounts such a good idea ... nope i dont think so

Downloaded another torrent on AH today and was pleasantly surprised to find it coming down the pipes at the fastest speed possible for me - 415kB/s. So, I am happy again and will be happier when I can top up a few more GB's at R14.50 each.

I really don't need uncapped and provided AH don't throttle me if I am buying my gigs as I need them, I will not move either.

Sorry if this has been asked already. On a 384kb uncapped line will online gaming run smoothly before the 30gig limit and if it does run smoothly how does it run after the limit.

I think I may have solved the riddle why AH do not respond on this platform, after all most of the posts here are Q's and M's and no A's right.... "What's M's" I hear, ....moans is what it is. :)

Poor 'ol Moshe spends his days replying to a couple of M's here because he somehow thinks Peter is more effective than MyBB (can I say that without tomatoes flying my way?)

Today's M's have not received any attention but I guess that's because Moshe must sleep sometime hey. This could also be the reason Openweb has an AWESOME SERVICE!!! above the never ending list of AH complaints. Ah well, for me at this point an 80's single word song title by Depeche Mode comes to mind, .........Shame.

I love the one comment from Moshe/AH: "Unfortunately the uncapped is not meant for applications such as youtube and torrentz. It would need to be used in conjunction with a capped account. "

Torrents, sure. Youtube? What do they actually think people are going to Facebook 30GB a month?
