OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Not going to happen hey :/
freaking crike! I see on the developer site: htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads there is a download for Gingerbread but you must download HTC sync first and you lose all your data / apps etc and you won't be able to downgrade to Froyo again... 161mb would be difficult for OTA so this is the only way.fficult for OTA so this is the only way.

guys anyone figured out how to send multiple songs via Bluetooth on the desire, I can send one at a time but its painful if trying to send an entire album. Bluetooth file transfer app gives some error "return value = false" when tryna bluetooth to a B.B. curve... naar*

Please can some one tell me where i can get a screen protector in durban, its very urgent

The Vodacom stores have a 5 pack, and there is some store in Gateway (Vodacom Customer I think) that can put them on for you for a fee.

Must admit, I used a screen protector for months and recently removed it... the screen feels absolutely amazing under my fingers! Now I'm not sure if I want to use a protector again. I don't want scratches but I dig the feel of the screen!

how much were they selling it for ?

When i got my desire i bought the htc leather pouch. Thats all i have ever used, almost 16 months now. My screen is still mint condition, not one scratch. Consider one of those or something similar - only down side, is having to remove the phone from the pouch everytime you want to use it.

I am also now without. Much much nicer look and feel. Dropped the phone a few times on it's face, no scratches yet. I think it's the way to go.

I bought my HTC desire last year and still haven't rooted but I've upgraded to Froyo and the strange thing is that whenever I install apps to HD that somehow affects my phone memory since I get a low space warning though the new app has moved to SD

UNFORTUNATELY even tho u moved it to sd.part of it is still on the internel memory
this is a limitation of the htc desire
my suggest: root and install the pre roooted stock gingerbread rom.and add the a2sd+ mod and u will able to install almost 100 apps and wont have any other issues.

Hi all. Recently got a Desire S and loving it. I have a question which I know as probably been asked already. Do apps stay open in the background and if so how do I close apps that I'm not using?

In my opinion, hope some will agree, is to not even worry about that. Android will sort it out on its own. Consentrate more on power management, turning data, gps and stuff off you don't need and that is eating battery and sync in background eating your data etc.

Don't worry, you'll get the use of it. Its actually not that hard to get the feel of your device. One of these days you'll be handing out advice here.

Since no one else has replied. Try k9 or touchdown i.e. apps with more features so that you could possibly get around that problem.

Go to outgoing setting in email, and untick the Require sign-in option. I had the same problem on my Desire. I had to change this every time I wanted to send a mail. Using MIUI now - much better.
