OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Latest stable (think it's 1.0.8) = v45 Nightly. The nightly builds have more experimental goodies in them which might not always work 100%, whereas the stable build is... well... stable.

im going to downgrade what version do you recommend?

haha meant v45 nightly or 1.08, you say its the same but will it make any difference with future updates? Also do you know any of the differences between v45 & v49?

The two are, if I remember, identical apart from the version number... As for updates, I'm not quite sure what you're getting at - I've gotten into the habit of always wiping my phone completely & starting afresh when I flash a ROM, so it doesn't affect me either way.

Differences? v49 has a lot more from the Sensation, but v45's wallpaper works properly. It still has the funky weather widget and lockscreen and whatnot.

Do it - you won't regret it.

sweet, i'm really enjoying v49 but i find it started to lag and go slow as i have added more apps so thats why i want to downgrade to something more stable/faster

Follow this guide here i used it yesterday and it worked, also on stock 2.2 with HBOOT-0.93.0001. Let me know if you need any help.

Using insert coin v49 nightly i have found my battery life has improved substantially :D

For apps that i have already paid for will i get recharged if i re-install when i put on a new rom. Via the market and not having google install automatically.

Thanks, did the alpharev s-off and gparted. Now running CM7. Guess I was a bit ambitious with the apps partition of 4GB though so will have to play around with resizing some stuff.

I'm currently on CM7 with s2e. However it's still not enough space.

So I'm going to try insertcoin tonight. Anything I should look out for. I assume it's a straight wipe and flash if I've already got an ext partition?

think so.
Let us know how it is. Speed, bugs etc. Going to update it tomorrow.

krap. downloaded the wrong version, just realized.

+ i see a lot of talk about the cm7 version. So i'm gonna look at that. Shrinking the system partition sounds good to me.

Guess i'll only get to look at it this weekend.

Dammit, I already wiped. Ha ha.

Well the standard cm7 rom doesn't support apps2sd+, so I used a script. But I was still running out of space. 81 apps. So the script didn't work too well to say the least.

.... thats what i said. I'm trying insert coin. Just downloaded the froyo version.

So now I have the stock hboot gingerbread version (stable). Going to flash that just now. If I like it, then I'll go try the Cm7 hboot, seeing as that is a little bit more work.

im usinging robocik 2.0 cm7. but im going to try insertcoins stable 1.0.8
robos rom is working fine tho;)
when my class 10 memory card comes.i will try cool exe's kingdom sense 3.0 rom and ill give feedback

InsertCoin

  1. S-OFF here
  2. flash cm7 hboot from here
  3. flash ext4 paritioning script from here
  4. realign fat32 here
  5. flash cm7 hboot insertcoin rom

Missing anything?

  1. S-OFF was easy enough. Just be aware that Alpharev doesn't work on some Roms like insertcoin. I had to reflash CM7 and then run Alpharev.
  2. Decided to go with the stock hboot. CM7 hboot is not a2sd+. Didn't realize. I'm sure there are significant performance benefits to using the internal memory. But for now I prefer 'unlimited' storage.
  3. The ext4 realignment script (without journaling) messed up my partition. I'll try this again sometime.
  4. Didn't get to this - after I failed at 3
  5. Flashed insertcoin 1.0.7 stock a2sd+. Be aware that you need 1GB ext. I had 512GB from CM7 and this is used up by the rom. Also there seems to be some issue with the market. After automatic resotore, i could not install more apps. I had to clear market data and force stop, before it would allow me to install more apps. This keeps happening. I will flash 1.0.8 and see if the issue is fixed, otherwise I'll just do a full wipe and flash.

Its a great rom. Its fast, obviously not as fast as CM7. The speed loss is definitely worth the polish added by sense.

Planning to try a nightly, since it has been punted here on the forum. I assume I can just flash over the stable build.
