Official HTC One (M8) Thread

Ordered it through Orange store. I couldn't wait anymore and MTN told me that they'd also only be getting in the 16gb.

I also was eyeing the Z2 but it just didn't make me all that excited when looking at the reviews, etc. If I'm going to be paying so much for a phone, I should be very happy with it, not just sort of 'meh'.

Ordered it Monday evening and it arrived in CT last night. Called DHL to give them my ID number so all seems good so far.

Sorry to see you go man. Even though I have been due for an upgrade for a while now I don't mind waiting as it brings me closer to the end of one of my other contracts. :)

I wish I could go the Orange store route, sadly I just don't have that kind of cash lying around. :(

I yolo'd and bought if off Orange now. Now I wait :P

Should I wait till it arrives in SA then call DHL as you did?

I want to but I'm saving for Eurotrip and R8700 will take a bit chunk out of that. Some how R499pm seems a lot more palatable compared to the big up front cost (even though 499x24 = 12000)

Isn't the model on Orange also 16 GB?

You'll see as an additional status that they are awaiting info (ID number) to clear it through customs. That's when you should call.

Correct, someone mentioned previously that they are waiting due to the MTN model being 32gb, which is not the case. So I don't see the point of waiting for a 16gb and paying more in actual terms to own it.

It just arrived now. I ordered it Monday evening at around 7pm. I think that's amazing delivery time :)

Aah thanks.

I was initially hoping that MTN would stock the 32 gig version. After seeing that they didn't, I gave up and decided on the Orange route. From their it was just building up the courage to pay for it :P

Going by your delivery times, I might be lucky enough to get it on Friday :D

Just need to get a nano-SIM. Something I didn't realise until about an hour or so ago :/

Does the Orange device come with HTC advantage? (where they'll repair the screen the first time it gets damaged)

Probably not as it's covered depending on location. The Samsung screen warranty for example isn't worldwide.

Got the phone set up now. It's blistering fast. I got the dot cover as well which I can foresee will really change the way I use the phone.
 
@Xiphan & Mr_Norris if you want to meet up and compare devices I don't mind. To be honest with you all when I heard the Z2 was getting noise canceling headphones I "jizzed in my pants" :p . To be able to cancel out the outside noise while listening to music or movies just made my day. What kept me hanging onto HTC was the xda community and the want to go back to my roots. In the end I couldn't turn up noise canceling headphones and the smart band...
 
I'm not worried about what earphones a phone comes with as I have Shure SE215 noise isolating IEMs that I bought specifically to use with my phone. I highly doubt there is any phone out there that comes with better earphones than these, and that includes the Harman Kardon edition M8! ;)

Grrrr screw it I'm ordering today.. Can't wait for good local deals or the G3 anymore..
 
I envy you guys for having the cash on hand to get this phone! Sadly I just cancelled all my credit & RCS cards and I really don't want to take out a new one just to get a phone! :p

Sigh, it's been stuck on "Departed Facility in LONDON-HEATHROW - UK" for the last day.
