Official HTC One thread

Picked up a new HTC ONE 32GB from Vodacom last week.

This is what I find straight out of the box.

Apart from this, there is even a tiny dot or dead pixel on the screen.

Luckily... this is not my phone. :D

doesn't that fall part of the warranty, and can be replaced?? This makes me slightly anxious, nothing worse than getting a product thats not 100%.

I'm still waiting on my call back from Vodacom, after applying online last week, eish.....

All I can say... wish you luck. This is a replacement phone due to the first HTC ONE that my friend got, inside the screen have contaminants like piece of fiber.

After a week later, the replacement phone arrived at Vodashop. I went to pick up and check the screen... found a small dot look like dead pixel on the first replacement phone. The people from Vodashop bring out another one and again... another a small dot look like dead pixel. :wtf:

Those problems fall under warranty .."those gaps" with HTC's zero gap ..

Seems HTC had a bad bunch sent to SA..

I'm convinced we fall under some "tech dump classification", where bulk refurbed stuff is shipped from the 1st-world suppliers

i Think these devices look like this cause of the shortage around the world..so they probably just started throwing these devices together to please demands of stock and this is the end product..

Just received a call from Nashua Mobile, telling me to pick up my new HTC One this afternoon.

Just holding thumbs that I don't get one of those "3rd world dump" phones

This after telling me they discontinuing it and I have no option but to port. I think Nashua is probably the most useless Mobile provider ever.

That's what they told me too. I actually forgot about it, so I was a bit shocked when they told me to pick it up today.
Well they've just called me now to let me know it is ready for collection. After i did the port. i am so confused

Maybe they received some stock in the last few days.
So basically what has happened is that anyone who has done the upgrade on the MTN network, they have decided to fulfill those contracts to on MTN that have already done the upgrade. They will not be offering the phone as an upgrade any longer. Some of us upgraded when Nashua still had the phone as an option. They miscommunicated though because they did not inform the clients. I have since cancelled my upgrade and will be moving to Vodacom in any event.

mine being deliverd from midraand to durban by the very awesome Store manager who went out his way to assist me

I picked up my HTC One on Friday evening from Nashua Mobile. I take back everything I said, as they went out of their way to get the phone for me. The lady said they are getting requests for HTC One phones everyday. This was the first time she heard about the phone and seen it.

Charged it for about 4 hours and could not put it down :D. It seems like they are providing the HTC One's from Vodacom, because the 1st time I booted up there was a Vodacom splash screen, although I am on MTN. Not really bothered by it, because there were no Vodacom apps/software installed. As long as I get my HTC One.

It really is a beautiful phone. I always thought the people talking about the good build quality were just following the crowd, but after comparing it with some other phones, it seriously is a good looking phone. It almost feels more "grown-up" than the Galaxy S4. Also no gaps or dead pixels :)

The 2-button menu system took some getting used to, but it almost feels like 2nd nature now. Only some apps (2 to be exact, with Tapatalk being one) have this long menu button on the bottom of the screen. I also suggest you immediately download Power Controls or Extended Controls, as the notification area does not have any toggles. I got close to 16 hours on 1st charge; and that is with a lot of playing and downloading.
