Did he carry this injury into the game?
If so, then the selectors need a smack!
Im not sure, unlikely though.

Wayne Parnell sets new world cup record for SA.Wayne Parnell's economy rate (9.44) is the worst in a World Cup match for South Africa by anyone bowling at least nine overs and the equal fourth worst in all World Cup matches."
Ummmm... That's his last over. The damage was done long before then.
I never view Parnell as an allrounder myself. He's a specialist seamer who should bowl 10 overs everytime whenever possible. Hence he shouldn't be protected. Perfectly capable of exectuting. It's no like Parnell is an all rounder. If you are a specialist bowler and you bowl more than 5 overs you shouldn't blame being given too much over.
No Eskom blackouts today, so what is your muni doing?

So the problem is down to whoever is using him, not Parnell himself. He's our fastest bowler who should be given the new ball to wreck havoc, not hold back and be controlled in the middle overs.Parnell's problem seems to be mental...once he gets on top, he's really good. If someone gets on top of him, he doesn't seem to have a way back. He doesn't seem to have an average day (my opinion).
Agree with Morkel can be expensive if the wicket doesn't suit him. That is why you play the bowler to suit the wicket. If you have x wicket play x bowler. Simple. That is why you have a squad. At least you know which type of wickets Morkel is good at. With Parnel you know 1 in 2 matches irrespective of the wicket he is going to get clobbered. If you want to use such a player at the the world cup all you'll be doing is perpetuating SAs choker tag.Parnell's performance today has pretty much been Morkel ususal form these days so I don't know what the fuss is about.
I personally said Parnell must be selected ahead of Morkel and given the new ball. I don't know why they selected him and only brought him into the attack in the 18th over with two set batsmen in the mould of Kohli&Dhawan. That's downright stupid whichever way you look at it.
Right now Parnell is a better strike bowler than Steyn&Morkel, and when you have Philander opening the bowling, you need the better strike bowler operating at the other end. Not "unleash him" after Morkel has just been going at 6-7 rpo.
Very valid opinion and I share it. That's why I say that if he plays, he must open the bowling.Parnell's problem seems to be mental...once he gets on top, he's really good. If someone gets on top of him, he doesn't seem to have a way back. He doesn't seem to have an average day (my opinion).
Pace is not everything. At the international stage must be able to do something. Take Tsotsobe, not the fastest but he can swing the ball and is effective at what he does. Yes, towards the latter stages he can dissappear a bit.So the problem is down to whoever is using him, not Parnell himself. He's our fastest bowler who should be given the new ball to wreck havoc, not hold back and be controlled in the middle overs.
I don;t understand people who rathe Wiese&mcLaren ahead of Parnell seriously.McClaren should be the man for the nr 7 position. If not him, I would give Wiese a shot.
McLaren is still injured. Sorry, don't rate Wiese - would then rather go for Albie.Think you did mention that a specialist bowler should not be protected and be able to do the job. McClaren should be the man for the nr 7 position. If not him, I would give Wiese a shot.
He's no longer 19. He's going on to 23 now, and guys his age have got cooler heads on their shoulders Wiliamson, Monimul etc. But Amla needs to be talking to him, and considering they bat together almost all the time you could argue he hasn;t been telling the young man the right things.FFS QDK, take some Ritalin and act like an opener and use several deliveries to assess the pitch - we need not waste wickets with rash shots..
O ffs. Quentin gaan *** aan jaag
